I especially appreciate the work James (zombi) and Glen did to help me get my hands on this fantastic bass. (Wish you really could see how beautiful it is, but my photography skills are limited.)

Here's the story:
Back around the beginning of October, my rock star son Noah (11 with real talent) decided he needed a new P*S guitar and, being the supportive type, I decided he deserved one and headed of to my local GC with a too-rarely played F****r American Vintage RI 62 P-bass along for a possible trade-in towards his new axe.

I had picked up the P some years ago, during my converted-garage-drummer-moved to-a-condo phase, while playing with some friends in a for-our-ears-only blues band. Loved playing, but never really knew what I was doing. Then, after moving from CA to DC to do some Government work and saying goodbye to my bandmates, I kind of stopped playing--or at least I stopped picking up any new tricks. So, with the economy being what it is, I figured I might as well invest in my kid's passion and skill by making the trade.

To my surprise, GC offered me a bit more than I had paid for the P and the object of Noah's desire was heavily discounted. That meant that I would have some significant coin left over. What to do? Easy; pick up the EBMM vintage burst SR4 H for the ridiculously low clearance price.

Of course, that also resulted in new amp, many hours on this forum and a bad case of GAS. In fact, I PM'd zombi to see about grabbing one of those GC Clearance Bongos. Well...not long after, I happened upon the BPL posts. After some work with James to figure out just how I could return my new SR4 in DC/VA and get credit towards the purchase of the trans white from CA, we had a deal. Great for me but a little tough on the good folks at GC.

You see, I wanted my local GC salesperson, Jonah, who was great during the original purchase, to feel okay about the whole deal. James was very understanding and went the extra mile to arrange the return at his own store, so Jonah was unaffected and happy to help the process. Finally, after a few days and some GC computer glitches, James worked with Glen and his GC manager to make sure my bass arrived in no time and in perfect shape. It's awesome and a real upgrade over what was an extremely nice P-bass, in case you didn't know that.

Bottom line: count me as a EB/GC customer for life.

The way I figure it, I've got two years of serious practice ahead of me before I can post on You Tube without getting flamed. But, I'm really looking forward to playing with my son and working to get good with this bass.

That's a marvelous bass! Can't wait to see these hit production.

As a sidebar, and I don't mean to hijack, but I see strap locks and a strap. Is Music Man shipping instruments with these as case candy now? What is all included in the case candy these days?

Congratulations on a one-of-a kind bass. I have one of the original trans white SR5s and it's a really unique colour. Your pictures are quite good!

Comes with the standard case candy--some sample cleaning wipes, keys for the case, warranty card and diagram of how to change the battery. Strap, locks and strings were purchased from GC and shipped with the bass.

Thanks, Laredo. One of these days, I definitely hope to hunt down a DDII Bongo to go with it. So, the jealousy runs in both directions.

Very sweet bass! I didn't realize that the Classic series was even available to order much less, being shipped already. I just may need another Ray.....

Some information to respond to questions I've received. My understanding, from the forum and a few conversations, is that the Classic Series will be available after winter NAMM.

Colors that have been previewed in other threads: Fiesta Red, Sonic Blue, Cream, Natural, Vintage Burst, Seafoam Green, Shell Pink and Trans White. According to Dargin's previous posts, EBMM will introduce two colors per quarter.

Having been discontinued previously, my Trans White looks like it will be a one-off (seems to be company policy on discontinued colors), and some have speculated that Shell Pink also might not make it to regular production--though I haven't seen any confirmation of that from EBMM.

Options on those that will be produced seem to be figured-finished necks and a choice of Rosewood or Maple boards--all with slab bodies, mutes and string-through bridges/bodies.

If any of this is incorrect, please feel free to correct any/all.

Thanks to all for the enthusiasm and good wishes. It's great to being a newbie forumite and an owner of one of EBMM's terrific basses.
