guys seriously how many times do we explain our position on signature models...We make what the artist wants and plays...Unless your name is John Petrucci you are wasting your breath turning a thread into a poll for choices...also remember this is why other companies dont show you works in progress...go back to the artisan thread...NOT one thread asking for gloss

I show a pretop coat...and...

its why bands dont play rough mixes...

Can I ask very very nicely that you take these for what they are....an opportunity to see stuff in progress that you would never ever see....

If it is a non sig model we will be all ears....

I realize I run the risk of banning or a warning or deleted post or editing for saying this, but BP; if you don't want opinions other than "Looks great" "Take my munny NOW" or the like, why don't you lock the thread after the initial post? No one is saying anything disparaging but you're reacting like everyone said, "Aw, that's awful. Why can't you make it glossy already?" or somthing.

It seems a little mixed opinion is good for business. Hell, if it wasn't for people making a raucous about the Majesty when you were first teasing pics, I wouldn't have even bothered looking into Music Man at all. That debate/controversy is what drew me to you in the first place. Now I have five EBMMs.

I say eambrace the dissenters and their dissenting opinions (if you can even call it that), because even dissenters at the very worst galvanize your supporters and get more people involved in the discussion. I can't believe how everyone on this forum is so afraid of saying anything that is slightly misaligned with the party line; WE LOVE YOUR GUITARS; but this is a forum; as long as we're civil, let us discuss! It'll only bring you more customers. You're incontestably on top of the world as far as me and most of the other people on this forum are concerned, instrumentally speaking; there's no need to quell any rebellion.

/soapbox

Okay. I'm ready for my ban...

Don't be silly, there's no ban. But you missed his point, he's merely sharing the cool behind-the-scenes stuff. Either you get to see it and enjoy it for what it is, or he doesn't show it and you see nothing. Take your pick. Personally I like seeing the cool stuff. If I don't have anything meaningful to say, well, then I don't post in the thread (wink wink).

Let's leave it at that, fellas. We'll probably delete comments it if gets all "why can't we complain when we want to".

I love seeing the new stuff! I love reading all the comments, too; positive OR critical. No one's complaining, which was exactly my point. I hope we keep getting these cool teaser photos; I was just saying (which I felt DID contribute to the conversation) that even critical comments are edifying to not only the discussion, but to EBMM as a business - my own ~$10k being a primary, first-hand example. So there's no reason to discourage them. I think BP should welcome them. I don't think there's a working brain here that doesn't get that this is JP's guitar and ultimately his beast... But let's be real; EBMM wouldn't make a dime if they JUST built guitars for JP and not for the general public, amahright? lol

Anyway, I think the new photo looks great! I was actually curious how that flamed maple would look with the carbon fiber effect. Making me reconsider my current Majesty being my last guitar (kinda hankerin' for an artisan now). Then there's that JP13(15?) lookin thing with the roasted neck and matte finish? Please. Too awesome.

MOAR!

The artist models are made with the artist in mind. EBMM doesn't have a custom shop for normal customers like you or I. You are getting the same guitar that the artist plays. EBMM won't make you an Albert Lee with a Floyd Rose, because Albert Lee wouldn't play one.

So, no, EBMM makes their money by creating guitars for the artist and they allow the general public to purchase the model those artists play.

this is so true... i've shared this story before...

but I was at a clinic with Albert Lee and something happened where his guitar didn't make it to the same location he was - so he came to the store and they had an AL so he picked it up ripped a few licks and said "feels just like mine" and proceeded.
So when it's discussed the signature models being played by the artist they really are one in the same and we have the priveledge of playing their EXACT guitar nothing different coming from the factory.

I love seeing these teaser pics... they really show off the versatility and commitment EBMM has to their Artists and providing tools for them to continue to get to the next level...

I think what he meant was that if the general public wouldn't be allowed to purchase the artists' signature models, EBMM would make substantially less income :)

OK One more time...I said that if it was a non sig guitar we are all ears....Majestic you werent here with the 25th but we designed it on the forum...wide open...we showed what we were thinking and too all comers.

What you are doing is falling into the knee jerk category that only asskissers are welcome...not at all....WIth sig artists I will show behind the scenes if people can take them for what they are....Johns desires and work...

To say that if I didnt offer products for sale I would not make money is pretty obvious....but actually I do make stuff available to the public and this formula for allowing the artist to design his or her guitar has worked since we started doing sig guitars in 1986. Right now there is a thread and pool about what Sparkle Color we should offer next....I love those....now worries it isnt giving input in the design stages of a sig guitar.

Letting JP design the guitars has created the number one living selling signature artist....in effects with tc picks with Dunlop, amps now with boogie, Pickups w Di marzio.....how much behind the scenes are you getting from those other companies?

I have never banned someone and neither have the mods for disagreeing...thats fine its continuing to beat a dead horse and getting nasty that gets you banned...nothing you said even remotely sparks a ban. You brought up good points...To say lock the thread doesnt allow any further questions about the guitar...If I post and lock then Im punishing people who may have questions....

BP can you explain whats going on in those pickup routes? Illuminators are standard dimarzio flat bottomed pickups, so I don't understand what that extra routing is for. Or is that a trade secret? haha

pretty please? lol

Sorry I brought it up. It was a thought, not a request. No intent to start a firestorm.

My wife, "are you horny or are you thinking of an Artisan again?" She loves the sight of wood too.
