Lo there :)

I recentley bought a Blue flame Axis secondhand. I loved the sound, the looks but mostly it was because of the unfinished neck, v nice!

I imediately sent it away for a pro setup and when it came back it looked and played great. The fingerboard came up brilliant  One thing which has concerned me thouugh is that the trem has come back to me floating, with the ability to get a whole note up. Arnt the trems meant to be for down bends only?

Also, Im not really able to 'dig' into the frets like I can on my other guitars (jacksons, esp and fenders). Do the axis have a small fret profile usually?

Oh, any chance someone could give me a birthday for it too?! serial No: G07286

Thanks :)

Some "professional" setup. Even if they meant to do that, they didn't know the gutiar well enough to know it doesn't float. Take it back and have them do it right.

This will help your "digging" in to the frets as well.

Congrats on picking up the finest production solid body guitar made today (imho, of course ;) )!!

The trem is meant to be set up for down bend only, but there's no reason it won't work as a floating trem if it's set up that way - it's high quality hardware, so it should return to pitch true... However, if they've gone so far as to shim the neck and raise the pickups to get the height they need to lift the trem off the guitar for the clearance necessary to do an upbend, then the feel of the guitar will be different than the original manufactured intention... (or something like that  ) I guess what I'm getting at is that an Axis by design has a trem that doesn't float, so making the trem float is a "mod" in the sense that it's not how the guitar was originally made to perform.

As for the frets, the Axis has medium frets - they should be higher than they are wide, tho'... If yours are low and flat, it's probably had some fret work done...

my 2¢ :D

Hey Dee M,
Jimi D must be slipping... he forgot the stock response to someone with a new acquistion. We gotta have some pictures. :D

I'm curious to see what the blue flame looks like on an Axis.
