I just got my new AXIS earlier this week and found that the trem arm squeaks REALLY loud whenever it moves. Anyone know what I should lube it with? I take it I'll have to go through the back cover and take it off or is there another way???

Of course I had it "set-up" at Guitar Center and trusted that it WAS set up and OF COURSE, I brought it home without tryin' it out and found the lower strings buzzing realllll gooood:rolleyes: So, I'll have to redo it myself (ALWAYS check others work!)

How about a quick shot of WD-40? You could wrap a couple paper towels around the bridge/trem arm hole (so you're not getting spray/residue all over the place.) You've got that long, super skinny, red WD-40 nozzle, too, which I would think would help greatly. A quick shot, letting it work it's way down the hole? You could also then turn the guitar upside down and let any excess "drip" out onto the paper towels?

OR, you could start a band and record with the squeaky arm. It'll be the new "brown sound" that everyone wants, but no one knows how to get.

Hey, people laughed at he 7-string.

That second part was pretty funny!!! As for the "liquid lube" idea, I had thought the other day about putting a little of my Slick 50 spray lube into that sucka', but thought I'd see here if anyone else recomended anything else.

Soooo, I'll see if there's any other ideas from others too, but our idea of the spray will probably be what I'll do.

Thanks! Now I've gotta hurry and cut an album worth of tracks while I've still got that "elusive" and soon-to-be "sought after" squeaky "brown-sound" that one shot of Slick 50 will FOREVER ruin (that squeaky "tone" will be lost forever...unless...unless......unless I buy ANOTHER AXIS from Guitar Center, and let them set it up - HOT DAMN! I've got that squeaky, string-buzzin' sound back again!!!):p

Alright, I just decided to go ahead and break-out the Slick-50 supa-lube. I went ahead and opened up the back, unscrewed the nut and took the bar completely out and used a napkin in the back cavity around the nut and also put one on the top side around the hole (I couldn't find the little red spray-tube for the lube) so that I wouldn't get any spray where it shouldn't be.

Put everything back and that bar is Navy SEAL quiet! And BOY does it spin now when you give it a Steve Vai flip! Rock on!!! :D

Hey ToneBenda, try a little graphite lubricant next time, it should work like a champ.

Hey MP, I'm not raggin' on YOU, but you just happened across a pet peave of mine. WD-40 IS NOT A LUBRICANT!!!!!!!!

WD-40 is a penetrating oil. It is good for removing rust and dirt from moving metal components. It contains a solvent that will dry and leave a residue that will eventually gum up your moving parts.

The best thing to do if you use WD-40 is to use it to break up corrosion on moving parts, and then lubricate your parts with an appropriate lubricant, like a 3in1 oil.

Doesn't EBMM recommend a drop of 3-in-1 oil? If memory serves me correctly, that's what is listed on the FAQ.
