New Axis Tribute Trem Question

I'm new to the forum and only have been playing for a a few years but completely hooked on MM products. I picked up the Axis Tribute and the guitar is fantastic but the trem arm seems to be VERY stiff when I try to pivot the arm. Will this break in with usage or is this the design of the Floyds with the newer design? Thanks for the feedback and looking forward to learning more about the MM family of products.

Good question. A little bit TBD I think at this point, as it's a new trem. However, I believe Derek told me it's the same trem arm and socket as the JP. So maybe JP owners can tell us about their term arms and whether they "break in" over time? I don't own any JP's (yet!).

I am a Axis Tribute owner and I have two of them, there is a small allen wrench screw on the back of the brass block at the top and in the back you must loosen and the bar will swing freely. just depress the bar fully and look at the back of the floyd and see it. I also have had no problems putting dtunas on either. Gotoh has cripped the screw to far down and you must loosen it. be careful not to strip the screw or the bridge. Work it up slowly. once you get it up fare enough there is no problems with the dtuna. Lots of room, it sits about the same as a dtuna on a EBMMEVH. Hope this helps.

Yep what J said. The trem arm on old and new style locking trems are adjustable for swing. Fully free swing or tight and any where in between. For the tribute there is the 1.5mm screw in the brass block.

Is it possible to tighten the trem arm on your Vintage Tremolo to stop it from swinging around?

To tighten the vintage trem so it doesn't swing freely, simply lay the guitar down horizontally, push the trem arm down slightly, and you will notice a small allen screw hole on the right side. See attached pic:

Thanks to all for the help and I really appreciate it. My JP swings easier but is just tight enough to get out of the way when I don't need it which is what I was hoping for with this unit. I'll post some pics of my collection in the next few days for you radrock.
