Showed up for my first practice with my new church band. The guitarist (who wasn't there at my audition last week) was staring at my Ray when I pulled it out. The guy was in his 50s and a blues monster so I figured he was expecting a Fender. Then he said "That's a great flame you got on your neck!". Thanks! I explained to him the story of the Classics (he didn't know too much about Music Man)
The drummer and the keyboard player made comments of a similar vein about the SR5. They were staring at the headstock to see what bass it was and loving the way it looked. I was loving the fact that none of them have Fender of the brain despite the primary bass player using a PJ.
During practice the soundman dialed up a great tone for me. It kept the strong character of the Ray in sharp contrast to the generic thump of the PJ. My B was HUGE and it really encouraged me to (over)play all my B through E scales on the fattest string. I think I'll bring a Sansamp next time to dial in some Ampeggy grit.
And that's what I did today for my share of spreading the gospel according to EBMM. Mission accomplished and hopefully got a few converted.
