New bass and new forum member

Hi guys
New to the forum and new to MusicMan basses. I gave up bass and sold my gear about 15 years ago and recently decided to get back into it as a hobby. I've always loved the stingray sound and recently found a 2005 buttercream on consignment at a local guitar shop. Fell in love with this bass (especially the colour) and gave it a new home last weekend. Love the forum so far. Seems to be full of great people and an abundance of info.
Tried to attach a pic. Hopefully it works.

Hey tbone - mine came home with flats on it too. Don't mind them, but I'm leaning towards switching to rounds. I'd like a little more sizzle. Plus I've got an old de-fretted Mako in the closet that loves flats.

On that note - any good recommendations for strings for a "newly-born beginner?" I'm guessing I should stay on the light side of things? Not jamming with anyone in the near future...just scales, exercises, playing along, etc.

IIRC, all the ButterCreams were a group special order
by the DudePit forum members ... thus the flatwound
players. The Dudepit was kinda 'non-mainstream-ish'.

Hey Golem - I actually ordered mine through GC. No dudepit dealings for this guy.

Travis - I only have flats on her because my other stingray has slinkys and I want a different sound with different songs when I'm up on stage. Go with the OEM strings. You'll love em. Although, those coated slinkys sound interesting.

Oh, and there's talk (they like to tease us) of some new strings. I think they're making us wait for the 50th anniversary. Only 31 days, 13 hours, 21 minutes and 12 seconds.

Isn't it great we have choices.
