Picked up this mint Stingray 30th Anniversary off the forum form bobkos. She is a beauty, ready to be placed in a time capsule for the kids to inherit. But I think she will get played out. I used to own a 30th, sold it in one of my bass rotations in/out (my German experimentation phase), wished I had'nt, then found this minty specimen. Stringed her up with some broken in EB Group III flats. Wonderful punch (no g-string issues as once discussed a year or so ago). Bobkos was wonderful to work with. I just realized that all 3 of my MM basses were purchased from this forum. Great group, here!!

Nice bass, just picked one up too and love it!

Congrats on the 30th. I can only say that the pics don't do them justice. The red is such a beautiful deep red and the neck rosewood is such a nice contrast. The headstock identification gold script is much more subtle than pics of these basses show, which still look nice, but look much nicer in person.

My 30th is my 1st MM bass and active as well. I'm really liking it. I have a Pbass, Ric 4003 and some G&Ls, and really think this SR is a winner.

I was not planning on making this bass my main player but I played it at home for a while and really love the tone and versatility for the sounds I'm after in a 80s 90s 2k alt. Pop band that it has now become my go to bass. Never imagined that would happen since I have been so happy with the G&Ls but this bass is truly awesome.

Can anyone tell me if the EB slinky nickels 2834s are long enough to for strung through the body application as on the 30th. I have heard you need Xtra long strings and can't find anything that says the EB strings are long enough?

Thanks,

Reb

They will fit. I had them on my 30th, and now have them on my string-through Classic.

That is the best sting ray we have ever made.

How true... at one point i owned 3 Single H Stingray 4's and now i am down to just the 30th. While my Bongo has been getting some time recently, the 30th is still my number 1. I would just like to hear one with a 2-band! Maybe a mahagony bodied Classic? Sorry, just dreaming. JOSH

Pics don't do justice to the sound of the 30ths either. As BP says, the 30ths are best Stingrays ever made.
