Ice Blue and maple... with a white pearl pg for me please :)

Yeah, the pics of the 'Ray5 in that config at The Perfect Bass is what sold me. I'm thinkin' a more rock n roll p/g might work better with the shape(re. lack of curves) of the Big Al.

I think the gold swirl pickguard makes it look more organic and works as a transition between the maple and the olive gold. Did anyone mention the Big Al plays itself? It really does! Despite its name the Big Al is a rather small bassguitar, but it does some huge sounds especially in active mode with the serial wiring of middle and bridge.

Just the applied strings are too tiny for me. I will have to go a little bigger with maybe the regular coated 50-105 set for my taste.

Are there any tricks to thicken up the sound of the neck alone? It is significantly less loud than the other coils but does not benefit too much from adjusting the heigth. The question is because of if you select neck and bridge together, you get a great sound which lacks a bit in bottom in passive mode.

As you see, the Big Al is something you have to get into to really get its full potential, but it is a very impressive tool for sounds. Thanks to BP and all of you at Music Man / EB for this great invention!!!

Next thing i need would be a sterling 5 hh, damn GAS...

Are you sure you're talking about the coil closest to the neck and not closest to the bridge? I ask because the Big AL I tried had this behavior with the bridge coil: It had a lot less output and sounded much more tinny than I'd expected.

oh yes i am sure about it. I just spent about 1,5 hours with coil adjustment. The bridge PU naturally has a more trebly sound and less low end, but mine has a nice punch to it and is loud. It has to be closest to the strings, middle has to be a little lower and the neck, which was very much down, has to be just a tiny bit lower than the middle coil.

If you adjust them all to the same level, you lose possible sounds...
