Just picked up a new Black Crystal Axis. I had a Fender EVH Wolfgang and while it was very nice, I have always been drawn to the Axis. I used to have an Axis hardtail but this one has the floyd rose. My question is this...

WHen using the whammy bar it is VERY hard to push down on it. Very stiff. The EVH Wolfgang was EASY to use and this one requires some muscle to push down.

The guys at GC had no clue (as usual)...so is this normal for this guitar? Thanks

Steve

Just realized it has 4 springs in it. I took two out but the trem floated. I put three in and its flush but still a little stiff. Do Axis owners use 2 or 3 springs?

I use two, but it's really preference.

If it floats after you take the springs out, you need to adjust the screws where the claw is to get it to where you want. I usually do a V shape for the two springs and let the trem lay flush to the body.

Thanks, all fixed and tuned. MUCH better! Went down to two and adjusted the claw. Perfect! BTW, I do prefer the neck on the new EVH but everything else, I prefer the Axis and this color is really nice...
