By the way guys, does anyone remember how the title "Axis" came about and why it was used temporarily on more than one model? I remember findin out years ago but forgot and the search terms I'm putting in aren't working for me. Thanks

It was a cool name and when the evh thing went to hell we used the name since we had already spent the ton of money to trademark it. The axis was the Albert Lee but we didnt offer it up for general sale so the only people who had seen the name were internal or artists

BP since you posted that last link to the blog I was then able to read it before that I was only getting the May blog.

Great blog which puts a lot of "meat on the bone" to what you have told us over the years.

Fantastic story about your friendship with Albert.

Once again - thanks very much for sharing.

Great Story BP - it's great to learn the background history of the business.
Even better to learn that most of the same stories are those of friendship and loyalty.

As always...I love reading these. It is such an honor for BP to post this stuff for us Knuckleheads. To be honest, I never heard of Albert Lee, Steve Morse and very little of Luke. Since I got immersed into EBMM, I have had my eyes and ears opened up to so many great artists. For that, I thank you, and for sharing the history with us.

Thanks Big Poppa for sharing these stories!
I think these inside-view-stories work way better than any commercial ad one could imagine.
Very cool! :)

... when the evh thing went to hell...

I never really followed the career or gear of EVH, but seeing this mentioned in the thread made me interested to find out the back story of why the MM/EVH partnership went kaput.

I did a Wiki search and yielded this: "Edward was allegedly upset that Ernie Ball could not produce enough of this guitar to meet demand, and subsequently moved his endorsement to the Peavey Electronics corporation." (I also looked through 18 pages -- or 442 thread post which were returned under the search parameters "van halen", but wasn't able to shed any signifigant light)

I think at this day we all know to take whatever we read on the internet with a grain of salt so I just wanted to see what the general consensus of forum members is; Is this accurate? If it is, i'd say shame on Eddie...ultimate quality isn't going to come from large-batch production.
