I'm studying for my marketing course at university right now. There's a task where we're supposed to use an existing brand to illustrate an example and I naturally used EBMM. Then I decided to look at the forum and this post came up...interesting coincidence ;)

(and now I have to take a break and read it)

Good read ...How stable do you feel the future of the industry is?....Will the consumer come back to the stores for the service and conversation....or continue the Web buying?

I'm glad I can contribute to the success of EBMM. The company sounds like good people I'de like to hang with daily. I vote for EBMM with my checkbook by buying NEW musicman products. From my favorite Mom/Pop music store.

Well said BP.

I think that the industry will always be there but i isnt field of dreams...if you build a store virtual or bricks and mortar you have to create and maintain relevance.

Too true BP,

And an area dear to my heart, I worked in a Music Shop from the age of 12 - I vowed to save enough money to open my own some day, by the time I got there the business model had changed so much and retailers were spending bucketloads to keep up with the internet it wasn't worth it,

Glad I'm not goind mad, and other people think on similar lines!

"Behind the scenes" stuff is the best!
The lesson learned here is to understand that opportunity is still everywhere
^^^That is SO true!

A vision is a good start, but it's nothing unless your willing to put your heart into it and really make it shine. IMO BP&the EBMM gang have done it many times and continue to do so.

Very interesting read - thanks BP.

In the UK one of the big chains - Sound Control went bust a while back - they were a big player but they just didn't care about their product or customer service - it was profit and volume above everything. Look where that got them...

As money becomes tighter for people I think they will go to the retailers that really take care of them beyond just price - it needs to be the whole experience - from a great product, to great after sales service and good advice from experienced people who know their products.

And with so much information about guitars etc being available online, there are an increasing number of people that know exactly what they are looking for and will buy sight unseen from a reputable and respected brand like EBMM. That's one of the reasons why I think this forum is such a great resource.
