New Bongo Day

Well, here it is. My first Bongo. Delivered by UPS on Wednesday.

I've got a couple hours on it already and this thing is a beast. I used it a rehearsal last night and although the guys thought it sounded great I think it was messing up the guitarist who stands next to me because of the dominant tone it puts out. I'll probably have to dial down the mids just a touch from where I have them to help him out. I'll put my cobalts on next week when I'm not so busy.

So what do you do when it's Friday night and you're done going over your music and still have an hour or two to kill?

String up the Cobalts, of course!!

I put 'em on last night but could only run them through a headphone set-up because of the time. I'll run it through the amp today to get the before and after effect.

I like the HS config. Right now I'm running just a little forward from the middle with the low-mid up a tad and the bass a little more.

The Bongo definitely has a unique sound. I can't say if it's better than my 25th/reflex but it is most certainly distinct, and powerful . Once I get a little time on it I'll pull out the 25th out and compare.

I forgot to mention that I also got a clear pick guard that I'm going to use with a picture of choice underneath. I still haven't worked out the fit but when I do I'll post a pic.

Pick guards are like basses, your personal preference. I like it! Good thing you went HS or the graphic would not have fit......

I think I'm there.

I jammed with some friends yesterday and used it at church today. The sound is really smooth and has a lot of depth. Add the Cobalts and it gets even better. I think my other kids will be getting jealous real quick.
