Nice bass, congratulations! Pearl blue looks great on a Bongo. Where did you get the clear pickguard for it, if I may ask?

Bass Central. You can also make them yourself if you have the tools and materials and use your current pg as a pattern. I don't have the tools to do it as clean as what I got from them so it was worth paying for it. On their website they say they'll install it but I had them ship it un-installed so I could do it myself with my pic of choice.

When I chose that picture I was only thinking of the content but when I laid it on the bass the color scheme blew me away.

That Pic looks great under the pickgaurd.
I look forward to hearing the comparision between the Bongo and the 25th. Loving my 25th HSS, the next bass on my list is a Bongo 5er HS, I think...anyways.

Yeah, my 25th HH is an amazing bass. I'll probably pull it out this week and see how it compares with the Bongo head to head.

Thanks for the complements, guys. I'm really liking this Bongo.

I did the head to head comparison with my 25th and have to say that they are both amazing basses. The Bongo has what I hear as a deeper tone and a little bit tighter definition. The 25th is very close to the Bongo but I think what I'm hearing is that the Bongo tones come out in lower Hz than the 25th which puts the 25th closer to the mid range tone.

The Bongo is also heavier in weight. They weighed in at 10.2 lbs. and 9.2 lbs. The difference is noticeable when holding them but I use 3” padded straps so I don’t have a problem with the weight.

I'm not a great sound guy but that seems to be the impression I'm getting. I'm also not completely confident in my assessment.

One thing I have noticed is, in a band setting, there seems to be more contrast between the bass and regular guitars. Our lead player isn't as experienced and I think the tone difference is messing him up. If it is he doesn't know it because I've asked him several times if the Bongo tone was messing him up and he said no but he seems to be having problems since I started using the Bongo. Maybe it's just a coincidence, maybe his strings were just getting old because he was having problems with his tuning. I bought him some Cobalt slinkys to try out so I'll see if that hekps him. :D
