So I'm one lucky young geezer, new Bongo 5 HS is in and I'm really digging the single coil since the sisters are HH's. I figured this a good time for a family shot.
I am proud to state that I'm all EB/MM's now, the transformation is done, well of course not done, apparently the addiction won't allow that when funds are
available again. Props to BP and incredible staff. And to my exclusive EB/MM pushers Sean, Brandt and entire TPB crew.

Sterling Bass, man that is a tough one, the BFR SR5 is my sentimental favorite, to me it's just classic, and since I'm a grey beard I have this huge happy days connection to it, but then I pick up the BFR Bongo and the neck just kills me, the Bongo for me is one of the best playing basses made. That 's before firing it up and getting all that tone variation, and then the 20th literally doesn't have one bad tone it. And of course the I don't know enough about the new HS Bongo. I guess I really can't pick one, I've never had this situation before having EB/MM's, I could always say this is my number one. I've had the 20th about 18 months and the 2 BFR's less than 2 months so I guess I'm a little more screwed up than usual having 3 new basses to bond with in such a short span. But I'm sure as hell having a good time picking which one to play. I truly feel this company is the best builder in the market, it just seems like every model they build is a great instrument, if have any one MM you really don't need another, but I'm finding out I need more, oh thats right the Addiction!!

They are all wonderful basses. Play them in health. Do you like Stingrays and Bongos more than Sterlings? Have you ever had one?

Thanks, Yes, but I've never spent any time with a Sterling, I played one at a GC but the strings were dead and the action way high, I'm hoping to get by one morning when they open to play one before it gets crazy. I think the body is a little small for me, and I'm interested in seeing how the neck profile is
as I think it is smaller. I'm sure it sounds great, like I said I don't think anything MM builds is bad. The next bass I get will be the 25th 5 HSS, I'm hoping to sell a PRS guitar to fund it. By the way I've been playing the new HS Bongo tonight and it's just another amazing MM.

SB, PM sent with a pic.
I checked out a Sterling HS this morning at a GC, no surprise it's also a tone monster. The neck felt fine, it wasn't noticeably different than a SR5, the pickups have different magnets, I loved them, a big difference to my Bongo is the switching, the neck pickup solo on the Sterling has a gain drop, probably wired in parallel, my Bongo is the opposite the neck pup is louder then on my HH Bongo, the Sterling also felt fine sitting down playing. I guess I'm in trouble now, but I'm still focused on a 25th, I stand by my story EB/MM's are the best damn basses period. I played my new HS late and it has just killed.

Thanks gents, I took hits on stuff I sold to get this group but I'm seeing it as a
absolute win/win, as every one of these are #1's.

Jeez, yeah, I guess so! Beautiful, just beautiful. And the 20th SR5 definitely holds its own amongst the Bongos, eh?

That's an amazing lineup! It makes me miss my old collection, but since the new house and baby on the way, MY arsenal has been slowly shrinking. :( I think it's time for a new family photo.
