I was re-watching Dream Theater's performance at the Download Festival on Youtube, and I noticed a red guitar sitting in JP's guitar rack in the back, painted neck and everything. I also remember seeing a video on Youtube of him using what seemed to be a Honey Burst or Caramel Burst BFR, like the one on his prototypes. Will this be a new BFR color? Anyone know what the deal is with this guitar?

Wasn't the original prototype in caramel burst? I vaguely remember some photos of JP with a lightish-burst maple topped guitar from maybe 6 months before the finalized BFR was announced.

If we are thinking of the same guitar. It was done in the same motif as the double neck silo given to Joe Bonamassa

It's not that doubleneck, it's a regular JP BFR, but the color is similar to that. I'll see if I can find the video.

Oh ok I see what you mean now. Even if they aren't the same paint job, they are very similar.

I always loved that color on the BFR prototypes, so if this becomes a production color, I will be very interested.

John was also given one that looked like the 20th Anniversary Silhouette. I think the finish was caramel burst. Now, if that color was released, I'd definitely have to pull out the credit card;)

Looks like a cherry burst, or maybe a Trans-Autumn Red (without the sparkle, of course).
