My EBMM showed up lastweek unexpectedly. The EBMM is on the left and my SBMM (Sterling) Cutlass is on the right!
Both are great amazing guitars..
The EBMM has a roasted redwood neck.. Amazing!

Yep...have heard of that. Wonder if anyone's tried 'roasting' a rosewood neck??

Anyway, congrats on the NGD's!!

Yeah sorry I meant rosewood. It's slightly different. The maple neck verses the other of course changes the sound but also the pickups and trem system is different. They're both very well made guitars though and sound great. I've used both of them on the new album already. I did a session with my manager lastweek with the EBMM cutlass (Doug Goldstein of Guns N Roses fame) and he was very impressed with the tone straight out of the amp with nothing adding to the line. Both guitars are great for recording. The feel is pretty similar on both. They are true MM designs for sure. Aloha

@RJKANEAO Thanks for the feedback on the two guitars.

I'd love to find someone locally that has the Sterling Cutlass but I haven't seen any here in Honolulu.

My gut feeling is the Sterling Cutlass is more like a traditional "F" style strat with the MusicMan styling, while the EBMM Cutlass is like their custom version with different tonewoods, preamp, special pickups and bridge.

Nice guitars!!! Congratz! How would you compare the Sterling to the MM? Haven't played any of them yet but the "Surf Green" Cutlass is calling me...

As far as the difference in preamps etc the biggest difference I would think is noise cancelling system no pre onboard, the tone-block is different material also. The trem on the EBMM version is the newer trem system that was first on the majesty and the SBMM has the more traditional trem like the older EBMM and SBMM models like the Albert Lee etc. the woods are different also. The sterling as you probably know is to get the same type of guitars to a more budget wised musician so naturally they'll be some differences as its made overseas as well. But like I've always said, my EBMM and SBMM guitars all stand together and I'll use any of them on any given day. The overseas models are that good! I guess I'm not the type of guitarist that will "only play American made!" I usually play what fits me, my mood and what makes me sound best at any given moment. For me Music Man has been the perfect fit from top to bottom of their price range and lines. Aloha :)
