Ok... heres a nice twist for the better...

today i decided to jam with a friend and bring my halfstack over to his place. I figured i might as well play my petrucci no matter what condition its in before i send it out next week. Well i havent plugged in my halfstack in like idk... 6 months or so... and i put the petrucci in and guess what? no grounding problem like i was experiencing on my amp at church and the amp at my local guitar store. So this makes me wonder... maybe i had a bad cable or maybe the wiring in the church/guitar store building suck? hmm.... ?

Im definetly excited haha... that leaves only the PINGING problem when using the trem to address, which really wouldnt necessitate a return to the factory.

What do you think?

God bless,

Tony

I think it would cost you less to have a GOOD, qualified guitar tech look at the issue than to ship it across the continent to have the Ernie Ball techs look at it. I also think that if the nut was the likely problem, it would cost Ernie Ball a lot less to mail you a new, uninstalled, precut Petrucci nut that a GOOD, qualified guitar tech could easily install for a small fee, than to ship a guitar back to you on the other side of the continent. For a minor setup issue like this, you really should be able to have it taken care of locally if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.

Good to hear on the buzzing. By the way, even if you're not a pedal nut, saving up the scratch to pickup a Boss NS-2 is a great idea. PLug into it first and it will cure all your buzz ills.

yeah i have thought about the noise gate thing.. but if it really does have a grounding problem then i really would ilke that addressed. I mean couldn't that cause me to get electrocuted if i were to touch somthing that was grounded? like a mic or another persons instrument?

i went down to my local store yesterday to see if it still did the ground hum thing, it did. so i dk what to think.. im just going to send it in when i get the cash.

God bless,

could also be the grounding in te buildings you're playing in. also, you won't get electrocuted. if you did, however that would suck. :D

he could, me and a guitarist i play with have both been shocked by mics when we plugged into a ungrouded cable. kinda felt like a 9v battery on your lips. no fun.

Yes. have a qualified guitar tech look at the issue than to ship it across the continent.

well i dont want to void the warrenty you know,,, i would rather ship it to EB than get screwed by having an unauthorized tech, REGARDLESS OF HOW GOOD HE IS, try to solve the problem. This is EB's thing you know? the guitar is now like 2 weeks old... i mean... who wants to take a new guitar to a tech or send it back to the factory after waiting so long to get it?

its the end of the semester for me and its so hard to find time to play, practice or even think about guitars. I want so bad to be able to have some time on my hands without my job, girlfriend, appointments, friends etc... getting inthe way so i can get to my guitar and try some things before i send it.

I figured maybe it was a setup thing but i sighted the neck a few times over and it appears to be right. The proper amount of relief and fall away. The nut and the bridge posts are the only things i can thing of that are causing the tuning problems and the pinging. As for the ground thing... i only notice it with solid state amps so far... in tube amps it doesnt seem to exist...so far.

i know i know i nkow... get on with it already right? well im sorry for having to posts these sorts of things here... i wish all was well with all our guitars but hey stuff happens right? thats what the warrenty is for... once i get some time to lube up the nut with Graph It All and possibly the bridge posts... either adjusting them lubing them a little... or both i will. Maybe i wont have to ship out!!! that would be very nice. anyways... this is as up to date as i can get right now... im off to class as we speak. have a good day. think of me as im sitting through 4, 2 hour classes today...

God bless,

The big picture

Some one once told me, "All of the effort you put into this will pay off". I feel this applies to you and your school work. While your guitar playing is somthing you love, Stick with the schooling! Futz with the axe a little more then send it back. I want to hear two sucess stories from you in the future. One, the EB customer service story. Two (and most importantly) your education sucess story. GET TO WORK!
