I like the Neck-through Mahogany Idea a lot. This is a good path to follow. Maybe add Korina to the list of woods. I love the tone of my JP6, but it's my understanding that Mahogany and Korina are the best tonewoods.

A few years down the road we'll be saying: "Gibs*n who?", and someone on the the PRS board will be asking how many PRS' they'd trade in for a EBMM.;)

Basswood is a lot like mahogany in it's tonal characteristics...truth be told there are no "best tone woods" it's all up to personal opinion and interpretation.

Your right about the subjective nature. I had a friend who had one of those lexan "see-thru" acrylic guitars and actually thought that sounded good. I've had a number of Mahogany body guitars and really liked the depth of the tone, not to mention my Martin, which is mahogany and sounds incredible to me.
