First off Sambora would never get my attention as a signature artist. He has endorsement whored himself into who cares.

I dont go after others artists but I know that Vai and Gilbert are very happy and I am over the top happy that they are in the string family

One question for you kids...If we got a superstar like Vai....what would we do? Im making all I can make. We would be talking 9 month wait.

I never really thought about it in terms of production capacity and cycle time. I'm already on the edge of my seat waiting for my JP.:D I for sure would not want the company to expand so much that quality suffered.

I guess my best bet is to leave the endorsment deals to BP. I'll stick with buying and playing the guitars.

This is a great point. Unless manufacturing was able to meet demand better, I don't see a new signature model to be a great asset.

Although, I agree with kissmyaxe, JP has done wonders for EBMM, at least from how I see it. Ever since I saw the LSNY DVD, I've wanted "that guitar." I think with his recognition as one of the best guitarists... ever... EBMM is a bigger name. Another artist like that would only make that effect greater, but I don't think it's possible right now. Am I right?

Well thinking about this COMPLETLEY hypothetically; what if Slash got a signature guitar. I mean he likes his Silo and strings, so what if he was able to put down his '57 LP and what not and create something new. He is one of those guys known everywhere, as a god to a 14 year old kid playing in his basement and as a well respected guitarist by most artists out there(Much like JP, possibly even greater though).

The moment "The Slash Guitar" would be released the orders would be overwhelming . I mean do you know how many of my friends bought an Epi LP cause of that guy. The Les Paul design owes so much to him and Mr Page for becoming that popular. I think production quality would suffer just to meet demand, or like BP said a very long wait. W/ Shecter and Avenged Sevenfold they were already starting to outsource everything and it didn't realy matter as much with their demand increase. EBMM would have to make some big changes I imagine, all because of one guitar.

As cool as someone like that joining EBMM would be it probably wouldn't make sense. EBMM does not really even need another artist to play their stuff all you have to do is look at who has played them in the past, some of the best artists ever! I mean Steve Morse's solo albums, that was the other selling point on my EBMM. Plus once you feel that neck there is no going back. Like eating McDonalds patties all your life and than one day you get to go to Black Angus and eat a Steak. ( I was lucky enough for my Silo to be the 4th guitar I ever played)

Bugger it BP,

Just buy all the other companies, take their artists, get Sambora to shine your shoes, and finally proceed to EBMM World Domination.

You could always arrange for it to be a highly limited guitar (a la Mr Horsepower) so that it would be an object of sheer amazement without actually messing with production schedules too much. Of course, in this day and age, expansion is not to be sniffed at. If you can achieve sustainable growth in any industry (I would know something about that:)) then success, success and even more success become your middle name. Having highly limited guitars is a sure way of doing just that. The brand value goes through the roof.

Another way of ensuring brand value (albeit maintaining it) is not to outsource core competencies (Korea anyone?). Problem is, most manufacturers are doing it to different degrees. Some outsource everything (Car manufacturers are a prime example, where cars are now all global), whereas others limit their outsourcing such as EB. Where do you draw the line? Depends on the company/industry I guess. Sorry guys, went a bit OT there.....so, over to you.;)

Well yeh Alz just look at Slash's signature Les Paul, it is roughly 7k like the Jimmy Page LP. Funny thing is that I have never seen either one of them play it. Other people are sure willing to pay it though.

It would be cool if they did something very limited with a new artist...and yeh I agree Slash would be the coolest, hes got the Ernie Ball part right he just needs the Musicman part.
However EBMM runs almost everything perfect and I am sure they know better than me...just dreaming. Not like the "Slash model" would be offered lefty anyway lol.

What was funnier was the Gibson Townsend signature model - it was released then the Who got back together and he was playing strats.

That gave me a chuckle.

Speaking of those endorsement whores... I wonder why they haven't come up with nascar-styled guitars?

It'd be awesome to give Alex Lifeson a guitar with Viagra decal on it! :D
