One of my new co-workers is a gigging bassist, and he told me that he tried to get a custom built MM Stingray a while back, but they would not build him a custom bass. He said"I'll never play a MM bass just for that reason". When he told me what he wanted, I went online line and found his bass. A 30th Anniversary Stingray. I told him about it the next day,and he bought it that afternoon. Now he says," My other basses are history, this Stingray just kills everything else." So,we have a new convert to the EBMM family. Doing my part to get the word out!! :)

That's it exactly. He wanted Mahogany with a rosewood board. He had no clue that they made them as a special run. He is really happy with it. I think he is going to do his first gig with it tonight.

Okeedoikly ...

So is there a s/n that divides the alders from the hogs, Big-Al-wise ?
Cuz i loves me some hog, and therefor have an SR30th .... altho the
Big Al might bump me offa my Red Ray .... how can I know, looking
at a used AB [can't afford new one], which ones are hog bodies ?

Not sure how long the alder bodies lasted, but any more recent Big Al is going to be mahogany. SmallEQ might have a rough idea about when the change happened.
