Dave, I dropped off my new 25th Anniversary at the Gallery today for a set-up and Martin let me take a peek at your fretless. Absolutely gorgeous! I love the Sunburst finish on the old ones - looks so classy. And John had another pre-EB (natural) on his workbench, too, which was also real nice.

yeah that bass belongs to Phil Mann, a teacher/friend of mine, it had a re-fret i think. the old board is off the bass now, i phoned Martin today and he said that he was waiting for a nice old piece of indian rosewood from his wood contact to arrive but everything was going pretty smoothly so far, hopefully should get her back in a week or so

hey guys, i just realised that i havnt really made any contribution to this thread for a while, so i thought i would fill you guys in.
i got the bass back a while ago and its great, better than before tbh. it took a little while for the bass to settle in again but now it has it just sings.
on a lighter note ive got a question but im not sure who to ask it to so thought i would ask it here. does anyone know how many fretless pre-ernie ball stingrays were made? im only asking because Martin at the gallery has never seen another one apart from Pino's so they gotta be pretty rare if thats the case. anyone got any ideas?

There are 33 listed on Gav's serial number database at SERIALS Pre-EB - Musicmanbass.org, Music Man, Musicman, Music Man Bass, Musicman Bass, Music Man Guitar and that's probably only a fraction of the number actually produced.
