Help! New guitar, but with problems!

Hi all,

I have just swapped my fender strat for a musicman morse (best decision of the year) it is really great, I mean seriously great, this has been in my hands more today than my Luke! (for me, nothing beats my Luke!) But here is the problem...

The body has a lacquer crack on the front and on the neck joint, I have noticed that the lacquer on the morse models are really thick, but it's not just the case of re-lacquering the body, because where the lacquer has separated the wood is visible (natural, the body is blue) My friend used to own this guitar and he was in a guitar shop with it and a musicman rep happened to be there and said he would send it away for him to be refinished but my friend ended up swapping it for my strat, is it something I should get customer services to sort out? I don't want to waste their time :-S is there a UK number I can call?

Also, I need a black switch cover, I managed to lose the black one! where can I get a black one? regular ones don't fit :-\ and how do you get the bar out of the trem, lol I sound like I've never touched a guitar before!

yes it is now but the one we are talking about seems to be an older molder as it seems to have a dull finish on the pickguard. newer ones have a high gloss pickguard

@ Mike_baugh: Did you check the DOB with the serial? can you clear this up as the pics aren´t that explicit?

Does it not say a date on the neck if you take it off? or under the bridge pickup?

Awesome guitars. String n' Things are your guys, Nigel is a top bloke. They'll probably ask you to wait til after XMas because I believe they are under a foot of snow and nobody wants to leave a guitar like that sitting in a couriers warehouse in negative temperatures for night after night.

I love the tone of the single coils in this thing, I really have to take my hat off to Sterling Ball, every musicman I have ever played has been way beyond satisfactory which is rare these days with the amount of compromising going on in the guitar world!

Also, how do you take the trem bar out? I've loosened the allen key part but it still wont come out! is it screwed in? I can't seem to unscrew it either

The neck is beautiful on this, it looks 3D the pictures do it no justice! I will use this guitar in the next video, the tone is unreal, not better than the Luke though, just different, neither is better than the other (how great is that?!)

You can remove the trem by removing the trem plate and unscrew it with wrench key from there
