Hi, im new as you can tell.

background:

16 year old, with a JP6 in mystic dream, wanting another of these amazing guitars.

(now i know the correct etiquette in this forum is to post pics of your guitar...my digital camera currently has the best of me, and is unfindable at the moment. pics will come soon, i promise.)

now to the reason i started the thread:

i will be ordering a new JP6 soon, and have decided on either Saphire Black, or a blue color (matching headstock, piezo, no inlay), but i am not sure as to which blue. ive found a picture, and would like to know what colors these following guitars are.

MMJP_Blue.JPG

obviously the top two are the same guitar...but is the bottom also the same color (for some reason, all the beautiful JP paintjobs all look diffrent from picture to picture).

are these Carbon Blue, Blue Pearl...or *gasp* a discontinued color?

one LAST question:

does Saphire Black have that sparklyness of the other colors? or is it just plain old black?

much thanks

The top two are Carbon Blue Pearl, the bottom one is just Blue Pearl.

Sapphire Black is black with deep blue, sort of a matte finish. I don't know if I'd call it "sparkle" (especially if Big Poppa is within earshot), but it isn't plain looking either.

I agree with SteveB - the top two look like Carbon Blue Pearl, and the bottom one looks like Blue Pearl. Here are a few pics of my Sapphire Black JP6. It's more of a gunmetal metallic. It's not like the other sparkle finishes - it's more of a fine sparkle like metallic car paint. I don't know if I'd classify it as a matte finish - it's definitely very high gloss.

MikeVt,

Thanks for improving on my description of Sapphire Black. You're right, it's really not much of a matte, is it?

Those are some nice pics of your JP6. Man, the more pics I see, the more tempted I am to "collect 'em all" like ernie1966. But then, I can't afford to. :(

Welcome to the addiction!

I have seen a Saphire Black Silo....that would be OC's and it's a killer color. The Carbon Blue Pearl is just as nice......either way, you can't go wrong!

I know what you mean. I'm always drooling over his collection, and I'm always tempted to ask him why he has so many of the same model. (And yes, like many of us here, I'd love to be able to afford it!) My small collection tends to be guitars of different types for different sounds. However, for some reason with the JP, I just want more of them! I'm at a loss to explain it! Maybe it's like some women with shoes!

MikeVt,

I think you're on to something here. EBMM Petrucci's are 'shoes for men'! I smell an advertising campaign!

Hmmm....I wonder if I'd get a discount if the idea took off? ;) While we're at it, let's go all the way - sales, frequent buyer discounts, club cards, etc.! How about EB MM factory outlets? We could put them in all those factory outlet centers so the guys will have something to do while our wives shop for other boring stuff!

As far as affording them, unfortunately I'm done for a while too. Between my JP6 and the trip to the open house, I just blew my midlife crisis funds. There goes the Corvette! ;)
