Sweetwater does a lot of exclusive runs with EBMM and other makers. So, while not technically a BFR, they are kind of like a BFR. It reminds me of the old Premier Dealer Network runs they used to do.

Hello,

I just purchased this guitar:

Ernie Ball Music Man John Petrucci 6 - Dragon Blood Flame | Sweetwater

And noticed its got basically the same specs as the old JP6 BFRs. I'm wondering how I should refer to this guitar besides as a JP6? Is it technically just a renewed JP6 BFR without the BFR title?

I tried Googling but couldn't find a good answer sadly. Thank you for any info in advance!

Yes, the old name of the JP 6/7 BFR is gone and it is now called the JP 6/7 Maple Top. The same renaming was done with the Luke 3.

The Dragon Blood finish is not an exclusive run. It's the new finish for the JP BFR, nowadays renamed JP Maple Top like Pete above said.
