In the December '06 Guitar One, JP said he was still using the RK in addition to the Mk IIC+, Stilleto Ace, Mk IV, and Lonestar.

Interesting that he has both the Mk IIC+ and Mk IV in short-chassis heads. It could just be psychological, but I think it does make a difference if its a long chassis or short. Anyone else?

Do you understand the irony of asking if head size is all in your head? :D

To some extent, there are differences due to wiring and layout. But usually these heads are/were racked so they had to be short :)

I bought the EVH pedals and both are great. I'd like to try the Keeley stuff, but usually prefer amp overdrive/distortion. The Stiletto Ace Head has my interest. My GC currently doesn't have one in stock. I love the Lonestar, but haven't tried a Recto yet. Thanks for the pics.

I wonder if John is using one of those Keeley pedals in front of the Stiletto Ace Combo he's playing through on the Guitar One CD-ROM? His tone is much thicker/heavier than Mueller's guitar demo, and the Ace demo a few months back. Or, if he has the gain way up. Anyone have this amp or have played one yet? How's the overdrive? Is a pedal needed for metal tones? Thanks.

Andy Timmons uses the Stiletto Ace straight up and gets an extremely thick tone with plenty of gain. I doubt JP'd need the DS-1. But who knows?

I have the Andy Timmons CD "Resolution," and its awesome. He said in an interview that although he used his old Marshalls on the CD, he can get those tones from the Stiletto/Lonestar rig. I really want to check out a Stiletto. It may be what I'm looking for. The Roadster might be cool too.

I wonder why John would use those pedals at all when he's got a Mark IV and MarkIIC+ to go into?

I know I wouldn't!

I think I saw a photo of his rig once, and there were pedals on a shelf in his rack, which were part of the effects loop. They weren't really on the floor where he'd be stomping them live. Surely the whole loop is swithced in via some sort of Bradshaw unit.

Probably because John has no pre-conceived notions about where good tone does and doesn't come from. He just uses whatever he needs to get the job done.

The new Petrucci model looks awesome! It just might eclipse my purchase of another Y2d. Does anyone here have more information about what is changing and when they may be released, or perhaps could point me to another Thread that talks specifically about it?

Mucho Thanko!

You probably know as much as the rest of us. We'll all likely know more come NAMM 2007 this January.

Me thinks the JP is getting back to the Ibanez-style....

Just look at those cutaways and the new scoop. It could be a guitar from the RG Series.

I like the old one :)
