Hey there folks! I'm in the market for a new JP6, matching painted headstock, dot inlays, no piezo. My local EBMM dealer doesn't typically keep stock of EBMM's artist signature models, and I can't decide between the colours Tangerine Pearl and Blue Pearl. The lack of good photos online really doesn't help much either.

Aside from pictures of these guitars sporting either of these two colours (preferably equipped as I mentioned above), any info about those colours in general would be appreciated. Specifically, are either of those two colours particularly sparkly, or are they fairly solid?

Another question, just out of curiousity, how likely is it that EBMM might bring back some of their discontinued colours? Namely Lava Pearl, Egyptian Smoke and Graphite Pearl. Those were some sexy colours!

Anyhoo, thanks for any help you people may be able to provide, and happy playing!

I highly recommend the tangerine pearl jp6. The color is absolutely stunning! Pictures do not do it justice. It's got a definite depth and shimmer to it that cannot be captured with a camera. If you do a search I posted some pictures up on this forum last summer when I picked up my tangerine pearl jp6. Unfortunately I just traded it in on Saturday for a tribute axis so I can't get anymore pictures for you. But if you're interested I can look for the high res copies of the pictures i do have and email them to you. I have some indoor and outdoor shots.

Hey, thanks a lot for the responses folks. Defender2000, I found some of your Tangerine Pearl JP6 photos, and you're absolutely right, that is one head turner! Seeing as how I've always been a big fan of orange anyways, I think you may have pushed me over the edge here LoL. By the way, how do the Crunch Lab/Liquifire pickups sound in the basswood-bodied original JP guitars? As far as I'm aware, JP has only really used them in the BFR and JPX/JPXI guitars, so, there isn't much of a reference point there, either.

Many forumites have made the switch from the D sonic combo to the crunch lab/liquifire with positive results.

As for colors, I'm just a massive sucker for mystic dream. As a previous owner it was a color you had to own to understand. Videos and pics cannot capture it.

A spooky thread so far for me.

My three fave colours on the JP6 are listed above!

  • Mystic Dream
  • Graphite Pearl
  • Tangerine Pearl

Good taste, MM Dan; any one of those is a winner.

The liquidfire and crunch lab combo is a really nicely matched set. Very tight and well defined in the basswood body. The best I can describe the liquidfire is a very glassy, round, warm tone. Its a nice neck pickup. The crunch lab is also a nice tight bridge pickup. But it felt a little too dark for my tastes. I was going to flip it around with the bar towards the bridge in hopes of brightening up the tone a little but I never got around to it before I traded it in. I'd have to say the split middle position was my favorite tone on the guitar. Can't really describe it. It's just a real nice balanced tone that you'll have to feel and hear for yourself. In short, the pickups work well in the JP6.

Overall it's a very finely crafted instrument, just like every EBMM, but it just wasn't the right one for me. I'll say it again, go for the tangerine pearl, you won't be disappointed!
