Hello, I will try to be brief, but I have tried everything, I guess the main question boils down to, do people think these have average to high action vs super low? Could I have a lemon? thanks.

jpxI new; long story short tried everything action too high at frets say 12 to 20s, lower at 1st fret. tried truss rod, saddle height bridge height, either action becomes too high or twanky sitar like too low sounding at first few frets. Help? Should I return it maybe I got a lemon?

Doubt it's a lemon. Have a your favorite tech look at it. If you still can't get it right call customer service. They will help.

I dont know much technical stuff, but one thing I know is that MM doesnt make "lemons"...

Knowledgeable people here can help you, and if you can´t deal with the problem, call Cust. Serv. They are great people and will gladly assist you.

Good luck!

Well if you want an opinion from someone who isn't a loyalist, I think you should take it to your favorite tech like that guy said and ask him what he thinks.

this is so funny this is the very best example of why I dont like customer service emails. First off how can someone help you who cant see touch of feel the guitar? If they could you are asking a stranger and you have no idea of their qualifications....now people who are trying to help are discredited because they are loyalists.....

Seems to me that we have a whole system to help with warranty and customer service. I can tell you that in my lifetime of experience action issue are usually the result of someone that doesnt understand set up and has gotten everything out of whack.

let the system work....you wouldnt take a drink out of a strangers cup...even a loyalists cup.....do take advice either. I also want to comment that anyone who gives advice without seeing a guitar should pause and reflect.

I figured no magic solution, ironically I have 20 electric guitars and not once have I had to go to a pro to set them up, here I buy the supposed holy grail, my most expensive and Im not happy right out of the box, which scares me, and I have to spend another hundred to have a "pro" setup.

One more quickie, is everyone happy with their action and are we talking quite low? Did anyone lower theirs from the factory setup? Thanks again.

My experience is that almost any guitar shipping from one area to another needs at least a minor setup. At least that is the case for me living in the humid NE. That is the job of the store....get in the new guitar give it what it needs and then put it out. If you bought it new from an authorized dealer than they shouldn't (IMO) charge you to get it set up properly.

I would think BP is 100% correct. You mentioned messing with alot of things (truss, bridge adjustment, etc). It's not hard to get it out of whack in a bad way. Take it back to the shop and see what they will do for you. (Or contact customer service which is what BP is telling you and out of anyone here he is the one that you should listen to)

I don't own a JP, but every other Ball was set up perfect from the factory. I've done minor truss rod adjustments as the seasons have passed. It's simple. One used Super Sport that I purchased from GC had a really low action. I bought a Stewart Mac kit & did the setup(including saddle adjust.) on my own with the help of MM specs. Customer service is impeccable. If it's warrantied, shipping to EBMM is cheaper than paying some tech who may not do a good enough job.

Just to see if my expectations are out of wack; I have no way to measure my string height , but I am wondering if I lay a fender heavy pick flat across 11/12 fret, could I get the high e to rest just on or say an index card higher than the pick? thoughts? thanks again.

Those particular 'heavy' picks are roughly 1mm. If you can get two picks in there, it's a little high but one could be way too low. But it's all but impossible to properly judge it properly that way.

Just go buy and buy a small six inch engineers rule and be done with it. They don't cost much and you'll need it to follow customer service's guide lines.

I just sent a new supersport back to them for repairs(GC's fault). I paid for shipping to San Luis Obispo, they paid for return shipping & set up to factory specs. Shipping will probably be cheaper than paying some guitar tech that may not know what he's doing.

I'm having a similar issue with a 93 EVH. I'm going to try shimming the neck that will bring up the action a bit.
