New Kitchen Counter day! Axis SS Rosewood w/piezo

Dunno whose idea it was to dismantle a cutting board and put it on a guitar, but that guy is a genius. Swapped out my Mayones Setius GTM for those waaaaaay cool Axis Super Sport Rosewood With Piezo And Other Awesome Words.

First, I hope the wiring guy gets a raise:

Turns out it kinda has the sound I've had in my head for a while.
It's not perfect. It's very heavy. But man. It sounds amazing. Sustains great, sounds clear but very ballsy. Oh my. I'll go back to make love to it shortly.

Oh. And of course, my balls:

Man I never got why people called them balls. To me they've always been MusicMan! Then again I don't use Ernie Ball stuff so I guess that's why. Well, their guitars, I guess.

Anyway. Tl;dr: it's awesome. It's Rosewood.

Anybody got the specs somewhere by the way? Judging by the pickup cavity the Rosewood piece is just a top, the body wood may be something else.

Bumpo; no one knows what wood these are made of? :(
I've heard either Ash or Basswood. Based on the color of the wood under the top I'd say Basswood but I'm no expert.

Hello Pott,
the rosewood ones should be the same as the standard axis'. Hence it is a basswood body with just a rosewood cap. I have the exact twin to your rosewood supersport and I love this guitar!
Cheers,
Mikey

Great, thanks!!
This one is MUCH heavier than my regular ASS, but it sounds sweeter and tighter. The rosewood neck is incredible.

I have a Rosewood Morse, and hadn't thought of it as a "cutting board", but that is kinda the look! :)

Pott,

Yeah I can also confirm its basswood with a rosewood cap plus the solid rosewood neck. I find the piezo Axis Supersport models are always heavier...heavyweight electronics perhaps!?

Yeah, that and the tremolo no doubt, which I'm not used to. Did you recognize that purple ASS? ;)

Oh man I've played this guitar a bit more and it's totally made me re-think my Waghorn custom order due in a bit less than a year!!!
I had Mahogany/Maple body with Maple/Ebony neck in mind, but I'm seriously thinking Basswood/Maple and Rosewood/ebony combo instead.

The Axis Rosewood sounds INCREDIBLE and while it's very heavy, it's just an incredible instrument. Haven't touched the Petrucci since. Or any other guitars!

I'll have to take pictures of the back of the neck too. Very beautiful piece!
