Heres a few more live shots of tubby 'ol me and my black sparkle taken just before christmas, at a gig where out keyboard player only went and had a heart attack onstage, hence the empty space behind me, he's ok though and we were back in rehearsal today.

Sweet. Black Sparkle with piezos.

Is that a Trace Bright Box on top? Those are crazy hard to find IIRC.

Bleedin' 'eck!

Fine rig you have there! Nice bass as well.

Perhaps the heart attack thing is a bad gimmick?

Just having you on. I hope he's ok! :D

Sorry to hear about your keyboard player, I had a singer run thru a glass door and nearly cut his whole hand off. I had to apply first aid until the ambulance arrived. He nearly died, they sewed his hand back on, but it's just there for looks. Turns out the security guy's didn't have enough staff to man each entrance so they locked a door we thought was open...

golly, how hard did he throw himself against that door!

I couldnt imagine how i would be able to get on without the use of a hand, not being able to play bass, far out...

How's he holding up?

for the first few sets the door was unlocked and he was going inside and out, on the third set he was running toward the door with his palm out to push the door open. We didn't know it had been locked and his hand just went straight thru the glass.

My props to you for taking 4 basses to a gig and a full Trace Elliot tower. . .

I take one bass, a lightweight head and a super lightweight 2x10 with built-in wheels, and I'm still complaining. Sometimes I won't even take my octave pedal to "lighten the load." LOL.

indulgent

It was a little indulgent to take that much!, i even let the singer play my 'ray while i attended to the graying keyboard player! It was our reunion gig after 7 years apart, we'd ben joking before we went on about how we used to be full of energy and attitude, and now we're all tubby thirty somethings who are all Dads and married (me too this summer!), but an onstage heart attack was the ultimate reminder! heh heh
Then again while he crouched in agony insisting it was indigestion cause he had three sausage sandwhich's for lunch you gotta think "dude!, NO!"

Sharp looking bass and rig! What year is the SR4? The maple board looks like it has a little vintage tint to it.

I was always a Trace Elliot head fan. I've gone through 4 different models. Upgrading every time. Recently (stupidly) sold the last one I owned: 1999 AH1000-12. Have you tried that yet? The Valve drive was improved. You really can hear a difference. You could also get away with less of a "golden arches" EQ curve as well. 500 watts per channel at 4 ohms. I have the newest one on order now. It's been backordered for months though.

2000

I think the Ray is from '2000 i did get told on here but i forget now. I have used the AH1000-12 and wasn't blown away by that particular one tbh, But the one i used i believe was a preproduction prototype so that may explain a bit. Fantastic brand though, i also use a BLX150 combo and am downsizing my rig to one cab at the mo.

we

Believe me we wanted to, but we were faced with several coach loads of fans from all over the country who had paid to come see our first gig together in seven years and Pete was insistent we should get the hell on with it so we gave it our best shot!, never broken down and got out so quick in my life though, including his keys (much head scratching there!, so this bit folds down to here and then that goes there??!?!)

I had the same noise with an AH1000-12. Awesome head! Anyway, save yourself some money and try to fix it yourself. You need to move the wires away from the giant round power "thingy" on the inside. I watched the tech do it to mine. He simply plugged it in, moved wires around until he heard the least amount of noise (through a speaker), then used 1 sided sticky clips to keep the wires in place. Simple, and it worked great. You may want to replace the 12ax7 tube as well. I recommend the Tung-Sol 12ax7. That got me the best sound with the least noise, although really not that much difference since it is running through only 1 tube. Good luck.
