Steve,

I think it is a GP. I saw a sapphire black JP pic from the same company and it is a lot darker,

My credit card is empty. Please preorder one Maple topped Luke (Premium Quilt) in Pacific Blue Burst with the piezo option. My life is now complete....BRING IT ON :D

Foggie, I believe the blue Luke you picture above is just called Blue Pearl. Carbon wasn't introduced until 2003/4 if memory serves?

Differences between Luke 1 and 2 I know of:

Floyd replaced with Wilkinson trem and locking nut replaced with locking tuners.
Single coil EMGs redesigned to Luke's spec (the Luke 1 used stock ones)
Tone control added for Luke 2
Piezo option added for Luke 2
Luke 1 only available in Blue and Red Pearl.

Is that about it?

hi steve, it's a graphite pearl EBMM JP (the seller said :) )
http://www.basscentral.com/musicman/guitars.shtml

btw, i think graphite pearl is darker than sapphire black, isn't it? :

I guess I should have consulted the color chart myself, but I've seen a lot of Graphite Pearl pics here on the forum, and I always remember them looking more like fogman's example. I'm still amazed that the color varies that much with the lighting, but then it shouldn't surprise me because Pearl Redburst looks black in low light....

yes i agree with u steve..when i saw toto's concert few month ago, i thougt he used black guitar, finally after 2 songs, i realize the guitar is green..lighting makes difference..

i also amaze with the carbon blue pearl..sometime its looks like green, sometimes looks like grey...amazing

You are correct!!! Though I guess The Old School Blue Pearl Looks alot like Carbon Blue Pearl. Though the Carbon Blue Pics I have seen seem to have a Bit more Sparkle to them that the Old Blue Pearl as well as having a slight gray tinge.

The Old Pearl Blue and Red colors had alot of Black in them, check out the pics on my site.

The New Pearl Colors are Much Brighter. I remember something about EBMM using different Paint these days.

Also the Single coils on the Luke 1 were not stock....
They are a Model called the SA-57. They were originally made for Luke in his VA Guitars Days. They were Dicontinued with the Introduction of the SLV single coil on the Luke 2

The older colour was called Pearl Blue which is sort of in between today's blue pearl and carbon blue pearl.

This is PEARL BLUE (discontinued but my favourite!)

This is BLUE PEARL (brighter happier colour)

This is Carbon Blue Peal (darker, hints of gray)

+1 my carbon blue pearl in normal room lightning looks nothing like those pictures that Foggy posted a while back. It is more greenish and grayish

I very much prefer the Luke 1 to the Luke 2...to me they sound Totally different.
I just prefer the sound of the Luke 1 Especially the Single coils.

This is no knock on the Luke 2 It Is a Great guitar...I wouldn't still own one if it wasn't:D

The SLV Sound more like the SAV's because They are really Over Wound SAVs...also they have Pole piecs but they are hidden.....

hi big poppa,
are there any ideas to make a new EBMM with a reverse headstock?just curious..any one has the pics?

about luke's neck, i have some question(sorry if it's already discussed before)
1. what does it means with : prominent v shaped profile?
2. is the luke neck design came from the lukather's previous guitar(valley art) neck design?

thx,
Bram
