New Luke-model?

Short note:

If EB MM would make Luke with passive HH & Floyd rose, i would buy it immediately. Guitar sounds very nice, and neck is great, but IMHO this would be perhaps nice combination? EMG active pickups has littlebit "cold" sound for my taste.

Opinions?

Those changes would have to come from Luke or be something that he might be interested in.

You could always hunt around for a Luke I, they had Floyds. But it's still routed for the SSH EMG's.

Have you tried the AL HH yet? They are suppose to be killer?

EMG's cold sounding?? I think they are the warmest sounding pickups I have ever heard. Those SLV's are just awsome. All personal taste really. I'd be put off from buying any guitar that didn't have them!

On that note. Does anyone know what pickups are used in the mk1 Luke? I heard they were different than the SLV's

HH + floating trem + great neck = JP!!!!

Put me down for someone who thinks the SLV's are the warmest sounding pups you can get pretty much. "Cold" might be the last word I would use to describe the sound of a Luke.

For me the Luke is the most comfortable guitar in the MM range to play. I'm not a fan of active pickups but after listening to Luke's new album I must pull one out and have another play. It's great being a dealer and having the ability to do that

Buy an older Luke and route the neck spot for a HB.
With a Superswitch, you can pretty much select the pup options you want.
Of course if the HSH Luke doesn't really work for you, resale will be hurt by the mods.

I think that's correct....the slv's were added for the luke 2

Actually the Luke 1 had 85 SA-57 SA-57. Much rounder, fuller and a bit darker.
I think the SA-57s were the original single coils that EMG custom wound for Lukather a Long time ago.

Synthetic/organic would be a better differentiator; the day I bought my y2d I played a Luke and remember noticing the instant difference between the two.. Not better/worse, simply different.
