Spinal Tap recording new material

Spinal Tap are recording their first new material in nearly twenty years.

The spoof English heavy metal band is the brainchild of American actors Michael McKean, Harry Shearer and Christopher Guest.

They first featured in the classic 1984 "mockumentary" This Is Spinal Tap and went on to record two albums.

Shearer, who these days voices several Simpsons characters, told BBC 5 Live: "It'll be for download as well as on conventional media later this year."

Spinal Tap recorded their last album, Break Like The Wind, in 1992.

The band briefly reformed two years ago for the Live Earth gig at Wembley Stadium in London.

Shearer, who portrays Tap's bass player Derek Smalls said: "We've never recorded the song we did at Live Earth, Warmer Than Hell, and I think they (Spinal Tap) are trying to revisit their old success.

"Not that they were ever popular, maybe in their own universe.

"We'll do a song called Gimme Some More Money, probably with some dubious results."

I've had my Peavey Classis 50 amp for over 10 years now,,,,just a few months ago I looked at the knobs and realized.....My amp goes to 12! All the knobs to go 12, haha! When 11 just isn't quite enough and I need that extra push over the cliff, I bump it to 12! :D

"what's wrong with being sexy?" :p

sidenote - if you rent (or own) the Spinal Tap DVD...watch the deleted scenes! it's almost an entire fullnother movie of fantastic scenes. Some that are funnier than what made it in the movie. I couldn't believe it a few years ago when I got it and watched the extra scenes. I was expecting about 15 minutes worth, but it kept going on and on and on. Awesome!

Nigel Tufnel: Don't touch it!
Marty DiBergi: We'll I wasn't going to touch it, I was just pointing at it.
Nigel Tufnel: Well... don't point! It can't be played.
Marty DiBergi: Don't point, okay. Can I look at it?
Nigel Tufnel: No. no. That's it, you've seen enough of that one.

We're all Spinal Tap fans....but I highly recommend checking out some more of Christopher Guest's "documentaries"......Waiting For Guffman, A Mighty Wind & Best In Show are my favourites.

Ya know what would be fun is if EBMM made a new axe AND Marshall did a limited amp that actually did go to 11. I'll bet that combo would rake in some serious bucks for the CLB...
