Hi guys,

New member. Glad to be onboard.

Would like your thoughts on best MM guitar for Rockabilly and as a general all rounder.

Been thinking about a Silhouette HSH similar to this one. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxvR_BkoJm8]YouTube - Ernie Ball Music Man - Silhouette Model - Demo by Brian Kellner[/ame][/B]
or an Axis SS with MM90's / Piezzo. (with Tremolo - tuning stability?)

I have a MM Silhouette Special, HSS, love the neck, but not quite THE one.

Cheers

George

You already know most of this since you have a SS. The only difference is the neck humbucker and the extra frets. But I'll trow this out anyway:

The Silo HSH is probably the most versatile EBMM guitar. It will play anything from country to death metal, if you have the right gear to pair with it. It's not the best at any single tone though, it's not pure single coil, and it's not an active high gainer. But it's a great strat with PAFs, and to me the best compromise between a strat and a LP.

Also, IMO, the pickups, being among the lowest gain on the EBMM range, allow for the most expressiveness and differentiation between one player and another. And you can always change pickups, or build a completely different pickguard setup.

If you just want a neck humbucker, why not try a Dimarzio pro track or another single coil-sized humbucker in the neck position of your SS?

They dont make a Reflex with MM90's yet but I think it would fit the bill nicely and give a more hollow sound due to the chambering.

one could always do an after market pickup swap with humbucker size P90s...

That's a thought. I should have mentioned I bought the guitar on an impulse, good price, first MM guitar, but really not too keen on the colour (blue/black). Plan on selling it to help fund next MM.
Thanks
