I am the proud owner of a brand , new Silo 30. I had my first lesson today which included picking out an amp. I have been taking acoustic lessons for almost 2 years, with a Seagull S6,but have kind of hit a brick wall. After much discussion with my instructor, we both reached the conclusion that moving to electric might be the best way to get over that "wall". After doing about 4 months of research on electrics, looking for one that would be good for a lady with small hands, short fingers, & reasonably priced, I picked the Silo 30. My instructor was quite impressed with the Silo today. He has been laughing saying that I seem to have a "knack" of doing enough research where I am able to pick really good guitars that are reasonably priced. I did the same thing when I got the Seagull, & everyone in my local shop loves the Seagull. One last note, I am 56, always wanted to play guitar, but thought that my small hands would never let me. I decided to give it my best shot, so I'm still plugging along 2 years later.

I have high hopes that moving to an electric will help me resolve some of the issues I have as I would dearly love to start learning some of my favorite 70s & 80s songs. Just one quick question for now, & I hope it doesn't sound to "newbie" like, where is the Silo's serial number. I would like to get it registered, & posted in the serial number thread.

I'm really glad I found this group & hope to learn a lot.

Welcome Debbie,
Great choice. Serial number will be on the neck plate, where the neck and body of guitar meet.
What amp did you get¿¿
Another thing, without pic's, it didn't happen  or so they tell me.

Hi Debbie!

Have fun learning the electric guitar, it can be very fun and rewarding. Speaking for myself, the more I learn on guitar, the more I just love and appreciate music in general. Welcome to the group!

Welcome Debbie.
When you get a chance, post a few pics of your new Silo30.
Best of luck on the new 'Over the Wall' electric experience.
There really is a ton more you can do on electric than acoustic, that alone should have you rockin' your favorite tunes in no time.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I purchased a Roland Cube 20XL. i was going to go with the 10, but after talking things over with my instructor, we decided on the 20XL as it has a few more bells & whistles. I didn't want to get in the trap that I buy the least expensive amp, now, & then a year from now, I'm thinking I really don't like this amp, I need to get something a little better. We did take a look at a Mustang, & Line 6. My instructor felt that the Line 6 might be a little too much for me right now. I just didn't think I needed all the computer extras that the Mustang had. More importantly, it sounded like the guitar had a more "brassy" kind of tone with the Mustang that I did not like. The Roland had more depth of tone to it, or as one of the other instructors described the tone as being more "organic".

I'll see what I can do about pics in the next few days.

Arrggg, what's a Silo 30?!

Either way, nice choice! I'm a pretty large human being, and I had about an afternoon's worth of "learning curve" getting used to the "smaller" Silhouette.

Not as small as they make it seem!

Congrats again, and welcome to electrics! (You picked the best ones, too!)

I wish they'd come out with another Silo30 in a different color - sure would be tempted to add another one to play. I've had mine for almost a year and I still love the thing. Such a comfortable guitar to play.

BUMP - I wonder what NAMM will bring for the Silo30 - a new color maybe???? Here's hoping..... :) BTW Pat - I received the part you sent and installed it last night. I won't know if it solved my issued until I get the new strings stretched out a bit. Thanks VERY much for your speedy assistance!
