Right now I have a dc-5 head and an express 5-25 combo and you really have to sit and tweak them to get the right soumd

Interesting... My get-go amp the last 12 months has been a refurbished Mini Rectifier I got cheap, I could pull off any gig from jazz to funk to metal with that one (especially as modern guitar sound is very much based on Mesa Boogie distortion.) It has two channels, the clean one has a dirt mode for bluesy stuff and the dirt channel has classic dist and modern dist. So all that and the the tone controls is just all I need for all kinds of music style gigs.
