Hey MM forum!

I'm new here, and I'm just trying to track down some information about my new (secondhand) axis supersport.

I'm waiting to get its DOB from the above thread, but in the meantime was hoping to find a bit more out on it. Is there any good sites with a full informative review of the guitar? I'm struggling to find anything good, and the MM website itself barely gives any information away!

A review covering things like:
  • The locking (?) tuners
  • the unfinished neck
  • the difference between position 2 and 4 on the HH 5way selector??
etc

Also, this may be a taboo thing to ask here, but why don't people like MM ?? They're so hard to find in stores and when you do ask about them or a shop has a secondhand one in, they tend to be really negative about them. I really don't understand, am I missing something?? I love my new guitar!

Cheers!

Hey Max - The control diagrams are on the web page for the the model you own in .PDF form to the right of the specs marked "Diagram and Schematics". Position 2 is the outer coils of both humbuckers wired in parallel and position 4 is the inner coils wired in parallel. Pos 2 should be more Tele-like and 4 Strat-ish. The neck is finished in Tru-Oil and you should be able to find info on maintaining it in the FAQ´s - if not contact Customer Service and they will get you up to speed. I am not certain what you want to know about the locking tuners without you being more specific. I have personally never run into any negativity re: MM guitars and basses but it can be hard to find them since the company manufactures only what is ordered by dealers/customers and does not build instruments on speculation or whim.
Hope that helps.

Sounds like an isolated case to me. Sales people who know what they're doing don't dog EBMMs. You may have perhaps had someone out of ignorance (EBMMs aren't as common and thus not familiar to some staff, and used ones are even rarer), or possibly you experienced a culture at a store where other instruments with higher margins are promoted. My experience has always been, sales people who know instruments, know EBMMs are great instruments.

That's so odd, I went into about 5/6 stores in London, all with the same attitude. Maybe, as you say, it's the margins that put them off.

Thanks for the info Skoorbdooh. Where did you find this all out? Is there not a comprehensive review of the guitar anywhere? I'll scroll through the FAQs seeing if I can pick up anything interesting. Can't put my new axe down!!
