I have been researching and considering a new bass for some time. I have an inexpensive Yamaha bass that works fine, but I have been longing for a "real" instrument. I was already sold on MM, but just wasn't sure which one.

When I saw the 2006 Limited Editions on this forum/NAMM pictures, that was it.

Today, I ordered my first MM bass ... a 2006 Limited Edition (black/gold hardware) Stingray 4 HH, 3-EQ. Now the long, painful wait (shipping est. late October) begins. I actually bought it from "The Arts" ... a retailer that is highlighted on the main EB Site (Newmarket, Ontario, Canada).

What a beautiful bass ... it's like a functional piece of art.

Congrats and be sure to post pics when you get it! It's ok if you'll want to sleep with it. We all understand.

Thanks for the love Koogs!
It's not like I'm saving penny to penny. I'm simply waiting for some things to clear, then I'll drop my wad (money you pigs!) :)

How much longer?
We'll see if Roubster beats you to it.
He got a CBP Luke a few weeks ago. He also promised a vid, but nothing yet! ;)

Thanks to all for your comments! I'm really excited about it.

Now that I have the new bass on order, my thoughts are wandering toward an amp/speaker upgrade.

I am relatively inexperienced in terms of gear and this is my first EBMM. I realize this is a very big topic and everyone may have their own opinions, but I would value any input you have.

I was leaning toward SWR, but was told that SWR is now owned by Fender and the quality has since gone down hill. I was told that a lot of new SWR equipment is coming back with problems. It was suggested that Eden or Ampeg would be a better choice. Comments?

I'm also wondering if different basses sound best with certain amp/speaker configurations i.e. my MM SR 4 HH might best be paired with a specific set-up ... or is there is no specific amp/speaker combo that "dovetails" with this bass (?)

I'm not looking for a monster system, but one I can use mostly at home (e.g. play along to AC/DC cranked) use to jam (with drums) also. My initial thoughts are ... 1/ at least 400w for the amp and 2/ in terms of speakers, I play a lot of 70's/80's rock, so I like the low end ... so I'm thinking large woofer(s) versus a multiple/small woofer set-up. Thoughts/input greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new purchase. As for amps the best IMHO is Markbass available to you where you live. This I have no experience with but time on this forum would dictate Markbass as the #1 choice.

IMHO again.

Hey! another fellow Canuck!

Welcome to your EBMM family, and congrats on the new bass.
I went with Ampeg all the way (SVT3Pro, 1x15, 2x10), and never looked back.
Everywhere I play, people are raving about my sound (of course, it helps alot
when you play a MusicMan bass, LOL). :D

After a great deal of research, I bought an Eden WT550 and and Eden D212XLT cab to go with my Stingray (on order). I wish my Stingray could come before October .... the wait is torture (but worth it).

Don't worry. We're all anxious for our basses.

With all the mix up of the 30th Anniv., I don't know if my bass will be coming this month or next. Either way, it's close. :D
