I'm just thowing this out there for the group but what if Big Poppa decided to do a Stingray "Forum" model bass in very limited numbers for 2007 that members would have the first shot at owning. What cool features and specs would you all like to see on it? Imagine BP's avatar picture on the headstock. Sweet.
Let me know your thoughts.

It could be a Stingray, a Stirling or even a Bongo Forum model.

Thoughts?

In between the 07 LEs, BFRs, Bongo6, Sterling5 and 20th SR5 my thought is that BP has way too much on his plate already.

Let the poor man get some sleep.

Over the past 18 months we've also seen more development on the SR4 front than has taken place in the previous, oh, what, decade or two? Multiple pickup models. A mahogany-bodied model.

And then there was the DD, which you can still pick up if you look around...and that was a "forum" bass.

Well what about us Bongoloids?

To make it extra special and totally improbable:

Stingray Body w/ toneblock in Trans Black. Flamed maple top.
All Rosewood Sterling shaped neck with some sort of EBMM forum decal.
no pickguard or control plate= back loaded electronics.

That would be UN REAL.

well, this almost happened a few years back (1 or 2). nobody could agree on stuff; color, this that, the other thing etc. so it was an "almost" but it didnt happen for good reason.

the Dargie Delight wasnt really a forum only model but it was conceived through a lot of forum banter and that actually did happen. I think there was no official announcement of em so the best way to hear about em and get any details, including when the 7 day order windows was, was on this forum. I think that's as close as were gonna get to a forum LE for now.

With BP n crew you "never say never" so maybe some day but as adouglas said, there's a lot cookin in SLO so i wouldnt expect one any time soon. in the mean time feel free to wish away, but i dont think we'll get one for quite a while

I think BP can decide for himself how much he'd like on his plate. You do know that the chap who started this thread is the buyer for GC don't you? I think he's just asking if there would be any demand and what we might want. If nothing happens from it oh well, but some people might enjoy it.

It's always an interesting exercise when questions like this come up.

I agree with AD that we're going to be seeing plenty of new stuff from SLO this year and they have plenty to keep them busy, but:

a. Biff isn't really sitting around, waiting for US to come up with new things for EBMM to do

b. Biff can read and ignore with the best of 'em

c. Ed may know something we don't

d. all of the above.

Dream on, Forumites, Stalactities, other rock formations.

I am so happy with my HH4 Sterling these days that I'd want something pretty off the wall.

Someone recently mentioned wishing you could get the Silhouette/Stingray5 body beveling on a 4 string. I think an HH4 Stingray with the body beveling would be my choice, with a 2 band preamp.

One thing I can tell you Ed, you'll never get a consensus from this group on what they would want for a forum model. Someone would have to just design it and tell us that that's what it is. (Although I do like the Larry and Curly inlays, let's not forget the head stooge....Sterling.)
