I have played a strat for many years and this was a hum machine, switch to the SL20 EMG kit and discovered the "sound of silence", then discovered EBMM and their fine characteristic and this is where the "sound of silence" meet the land of perfection :p

I never had a noise issue with my Axis, my 3 ASS or my EVH. All EBMM guitars are dead quiet

sorry to hear about your issue

I cant understand how your single coils would be so quite and your humbuckers so noisy.

Because his model Strat and Tele have noisless pickups - the American Deluxe Tele will either have Vintage Noiseless (1998-2003) or SCN (2004-present) pickups, and the Deluxe Player's Strat has the Vintage Noiseless pickups. Both the Vintage Noiseless and SCNs are are stacked-type pickups.

I have 3 Axis guitars and no issues with noise on any of them.
Same with my Silhouette and my Sub1.

Post a video or something so we can see.

Otherwise either you are the most unlucky guy in the world to get a pair of balls that hum or this is a wind-up post.

Why don't you take your amp with you to GC and check the guitars for "noise" right there on the scene? If so, then stay away from the guitar.
Maybe then, just like BP stated, your expectations and what EBMM can give you are just too far away from each other.

??? Very interesting. So you ordered two Axis'...and you didn't "use" one, but both were "noisy"?
That question came to my mind as well when I read through this post

I get a TON of noise when I play in my bedroom. I am not blaming the guitars, or even the amp as it is likely due to the wiring in my 70 year old home. I will comment that with high gain set on the amp, the buzz is really bad, even with humbuckers. But for some reason when the pickups are split, the buzz goes away for the most part.

Video

Well here it is guys! I did a video with my snap-shot camera (so video and audio quality isn't quiet there...but good enough for what I need it for), so take a look at the difference between my current guitars and the new Axis guitars.

Please leave comments!!!

That is the weirdest thing i've ever seen... i've played a ton of EBMMs over the years... i personally own two (20th and a HSH Silo) the 20th is as silent as can be as is the HSH (with very little hum with isolating the single coil). I have kicked around a few AXIS' over the years and have never heard any hum at all... typically they are extremely silent.

ok I agree, that you have an issue here

Now I would write to CS and ask their advise, it's obvious with the video that there is something wrong

just a quick remark, the Axis is the only guitar that has no tone pot. So you may have a problem with you rig that is hidden with the presence of the tone pot on other guitars.

I still don't believe you could get 2 faulty guitars from the same shop, probability for this should be very very low

Hey Jordan

You're right, there is really something strange with your Axis.
By the way, your video is really well made and your studio looks really nice.

That's the sound I get ALL THE TIME in my bedroom. It doesn't matter what guitar I use. Weird that you only get it with the Axis. Be patient, the guys at EB are really cool - they won't leave you hanging. I hope you get it straightened out very soon.

Well its not that its that location..like you get with your bedroom. I was able to get the noise at the guitar techs shop, and my dads lesson studio as well. Its gatta be something with the Axis/those pickups.

Thank you! :D I should really create a video demoing all my stuff. I'm a gear head...I'd check out someone elses if they did it as well.

Big Poppa emailed me the You Tube this morning. I have checked out some Axis Guitars, Silhouette guitars and 25th Anniversary guitars with DiMarzio humbuckers. I have also checked out a Luke with EMGs, an Albert Lee with Duncan pickups and an Axis Sport with MM90 pickups.

All are exhibiting hum with the resident Mesa Boogie on maximum gain setting, similar to what the video showed. Unfortunately I will have to get some other maker's guitars here to check them out.

I am very curious about the circumstances of the video test and the apparent performance of the other guitars??

BTW, the Axis pickups have Alnico V magnets, not ceramic as earlier discussed. The impedance of these pickups is quite high, but I am not familiar with the specs of the other pickups in the video- yet...

Thank you Guitarburetor...don't you just love it when people blab about things they obviously don't know.

My take is this.. in the video there is alot of noise (IMHO) from all of his guitars when he has the volume full up and not playing. None of my guitars have ever sounded even as noisey as in this vid. The Axis is of course exhibiting louder noise, but it could be that the pickups are far more high output.

I hope we all learn the eventual outcome of this situation.
Respectfully,
~Jim
