Well.. now that I have some cash and will have a large amount in the near future, im ready for my new Ray. I love the feel of a NEW ray NECK but I know eventually it will get old and worn. Im not sure if I should buy one used or wait a little while... Up to a month and buy a ray brand new. Of course then I would have to decide on the color and fretboard wood and that will just kill me. Its easier for me to just see a used bass that I like and buy it instead of ordering one with the exact color ect... So what do you guys think I should do? I have a new to me Gallien Krueger 1001rb2 comeing in next friday and this avatar 2x10 can use some replaceing since I would like to use my own rig and he church has a 1x15 which sucks. 2x10 would look to small so I was thinking 4x10 or 6x10...

Plain and simple: Should I buy a NEW stingray and wait for the cab or should I buy used and hello to a new cab?

My first Stingray was used with a beautiful birdseye neck. I still have that 5 string and it is one of my favorites. If there is a used one that you like, by all means buy it. Remember you will never find another with the exact same sound so if it is a good fit go for it.

Remember there is about a 6 month wait for a new bass from EB. I just received my Sterling I had on order and it was 2 days shy of being 6 months. Well worth the wait though! :D

Well I it would definatly be a 4 string. And not 30th or 20th anniversary.. And I wouldn't be ordering it from Ernie Ball. Probably musicansfriend or music123. Anyways I think I might have made up my mind.. .....NEW!!! lol I think Im gonna go with Candy Red/Maple/White Pearloid or White/Maple or Rosewood/Shellor white pearloid. Made my decision because I realized I have LARGE sums of money comeing in and they need a place to go :p

I'd check out basscentral.com and see what they have in stock. They are much easier to deal with than the MEGA CORP dealers.

Bass Central also has in stock some Stingrays with double pickups. Which is exactly what I want now. Just can't come up with the cash yet.:(

I can help you with that. I'll PM you my PayPal e-mail address and you can send the large sums of money to me:p

Seriously though used can be a good way to go if you can find an Ebay seller with positive feedback and a good return policy. If you want to order it exactly to your specs and don't mind waiting there a few authorized EBMM dealers that frequent the boards here that i'm sure would be more than happy to assist you.......Good luck in your search:)

I love the feel of a NEW ray NECK but I know eventually it will get old and worn. QUOTE]

I'd say get a used Ray in great shape, spend an extra $30 getting some Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil and Wax, treat the neck, and in a couple of days you've got that new, glassy neck on a nice bass, with enough scratch saved to invest in the amp. Between this site, talkbass.com, craigslist, eBay, etc., there's a multitude of used EBMMs in great shape that can be had for a serious discount.

By the way, I bought mine new old stock (the metal flake brown spoke to me), but if I had to do it again, I'd probably compromise on color and go for the cost savings in buying used. One of the coolest things about EBMM is that they offer a rainbow of color to finish your axe of choice.

ok it might not be new.. I think im about to pickup a USED 2005 HONEY BURST STINGRAY WITH MAPLE NECK replace the pickgaurd with a white pearloid and It'll be dead sexy. However I wanted red because it was more.. of a wild color. And personally the color of my bass changes my personality. Im not sure if the honey burst will give me that energy when playing live.

Why nog get some stick on fret board led's and a couple of evil glow-in-the-dark stickers? Or colored shades?

HONEY BURSTS ARE LOVELY, YOU KNOW:D

+1 - Honeyburst is beautiful - definately my next colour choice for a bass. Looks very sweet with maple and WP too - but definately give plain black or tort a try for more pickguard options :D
