Just bought my first Music Man bass new at GC. Pace Car Blue/Maple (with the gold hw). Reading the forum it looks like these are only available through GC, and that they were made about 3 years ago? Is it likely that I got a NOS instrument?
Are production quantites available?

Thanks,
Rowka

Thanks all. I'll be gigging it tonight.

The GC also had a pearl-y white one with gold hardware. Is that another limited run special? Maybe I need to grab that one, too.

Congrats and best of luck - I wanted a PCB SR5 when they came out.

The white is also a GC limited edition - I believe called indian ivory IIRC. Much more recent - 2011 I think.

Back in 2009 I was at the GC in Hollywood and saw a PCB SR5 with a solid rosewood neck. I am still kicking myself for not picking that guy up. JOSH

So I'm giving this bass a real good look over and I'm confused by something.

It's a maple neck/fingerboard. Looks like a 1 pc neck. I can't find any hint of a glue line for the fingerboard. And of course there is no skunk-stripe. How is this made?

All part of the MM magic! Excellent at construction. You will need to look very closely, but the finger board is glued on to the neck after truss rod is installed. My BFR Sterling is the same way, can't detect a line. Absolutely looks like one piece!!!! Look very closely at the grain of the wood.
