I invented a new pedal board for myself. The first photo is of my old pedal board. I love to experiment and turn knobs. It just got old bending down. Now I can dial in tones until my hearts content. I measured and drew out the dimensions and went to a Sheet metal shop and it came out right the first time. I have a Dunlop brick with velcrow underneath and two slots cut out of the board so my power cables are hidden. The Marshall head holds down the board on the cab. No drilling, nothing. Before I would pretty much leave my Amps set the same and just use the pedals. Now I'm dialling in the Amps with the pedals sitting in front on a Stool. One more thing, I have to say that the Strymon pedals are 100% top notch professional and with my Steve Morse Y2D. Everything sounds amazing ! I change up pedals a lot. the ones on the board are Boss TU3 tuner, OCD drive, Catalyst drive, Strymon El Capiston tape delay, Strymon Blue Sky and the flashback. Enjoy

I still have the ts 808hw. I keep just 6 pedals on the tray. The univibe, Wah and volume pedals are still used on the ground.
I haven't tried yet, But the El Capistan has a expression input and I think I can use the Ernie Ball volume pedal as an expression pedal for it.

Cool set up. But I am assuming mainly for home use? I cant see that being practical in a live setting, unless you like switching your effects on and off like Chuck Norris hehe. I really like the Strymon stuff. Really amazing sounding effects...I am definitely thinking of adding the el capistan on my board. How are you liking the blue sky? I love mine. And the tobacco y2d is awesome!

It is really for home or studio use. The tray is a tool to find tones and sweet spots for future use. it's just easier than bending over all the time. I have not even scratched the surface of the El Captistan. It blew me away when i first turned it on. The Blue Sky is surreal. The Cobalts, Morse and new pedals......Too much fun!

The Tray is made from Iodized Aluminum It's 2mm thick. It's not flimsy at all. Very strong. There are Two 8inch horizontal
cut outs under the pedals to run the power source and keep the cables hidden. I inquired already about a Patent design from
a Lawyer for all of North America. It's too expensive. Lawyers ! What a racket ! What is amazing is I'm really digging into the Amp dials now more than ever and discovering new tones. No more Bending over. Everything is right at your finger tips.
Marshall 4x12's are pretty much the standard size. So this would fit on any 4x12 cab. Small or large head would still hold the tray down. If anyone needs the dimensions to have your own made. Please let me know. I'll be happy to give them to you.
But really if you just measure, It's not that difficult.

It's definitely a good idea for home use and studio use when you need to tweak. Especially when it comes to the Strymon pedals. The thing with those is that there are millions of different amazing tones and I find myself changing the settings all the time.

How are you liking the El Capistan in comparison to the Flashback? I know they are two separate things, but tone wise? I really wanted the Flashback, but my Blue Sky and the amazing demos of the Capistan kind of made me rethink the priority between the two. Of course I would like both as in your case :).

The Flashback works well with the El Capistan. There is no comparison though. The El Capistan is off the charts in tone and in what it can do. It has hidden gems when you hold down the Bypass and Tap switches. It's really like a real Tape Delay with all the nuances of a Tape Delay. It's worth every penny ! Get it. It will take me a month or two to dig into this pedal. I love it ....It's a keeper.

Yea I really want one since it has so many possibilities. I think I've watched every possible demo of this and like the secondary features. I also really like the tap tempo, and also the looping feature. And another cool thing is that you can get the favorite switch for this for another $50 which could definitely come in handy. Delay is my favorite effect, but I only have the Boss DD3 which is not really on par with all the other things on my board.

That's cool!

It would work really well with something like a Gig Rig switcher, so you could have all of the changes at your feet, whilst still keeping all of the controls accessible.

It reminds me of David Gilmour's rig for Pulse and Delicate Sound of Thunder.

Speaking of Gilmour, The El Capistan has a setting for sound on sound. It's unbelievable ! I have the EH Freeze pedal and there is no comparison. This blows the Freeze out of the water. I'm going to look for Gilmours rig from then. I got the idea from looking at the Egde's Rig and seeing all the pedals on top of his rack. With this setup as well you can just run two Short jacks under the head to plug into the Effects in & out. With my setup now I'm running straight into the front of the Amp. The LED light clips you can get from any book store.

I've been looking at some more of the demos done by Strymon of the El Cap...this is really an amazing pedal!!! I think the sound on sound loop function is much better than the TC looper. Have you compared those two functions? I mean, you can tweak all the parameters on the El Cap DURING the loop mode. The other thing I am interested in that I have not heard or read, is if the Mix knob turns down just the loop or both the loop and the guitar signal. I know this is kind of an issue with the TC Flashback...not exactly an issue, but being able to turn down the loop and play over it with a louder signal would be amazing. Let me know if you tried this out or if you can to let me know. Thanks! I'm definitely saving up for this pedal now. I think it may quite possibly be the ultimate delay pedal for me personally.

The mix knob controls the volume with Sound on Sound. If you hold down the Tap and Bypass button and turn the mix knob from 12 O'clock up is a +3d boost and below 12 O'clock is -3d. I'm waiting on a L111 to show up anytime now. I can't wait to play the L111 through these pedals.
