new pickguard for my Bongo

I decided a while ago that as Bongos are made in such a way that you can replace the pickguard (scratchplate to us in the UK) without disturbing anything else, that I'd make myself a new one.

looks good to me - maybe a matte black one next, or how about a mirror ..

they're pretty well put together, I had one of the heart-shaped guitars for a while set up for slide and it played and sounded fine.

the bass is a little neck heavy but as I bought it to occasionally annoy my guitarist (he hates it) it's not that important

Arrowhead, what are those funky lookin' basses on the rack behind the Bongo? (which looks great, BTW!)

Yamaha's, aren't they? I played one once...I liked the funky look, but was not too impressed with the sound. What's your experience?

They are Yamahas, SBVs (the modern ones) and SBs (vintage 1967-71) I've been collecting them for a while now and have 15 out of a reckoned total of 27 (all colours/models)

soundwise I like them, though they do vary in sound quite a bit.

Very Cool! Perhaps the one I played was just not a prime example. Definitely a funky looking bass. Good choice for a collection!

I imagine they are quite a contrast from that great looking Bongo.
