hmm if you put d sonic which is a high output pickup I would suggest dimarzio cruisers (like in Andy Timmons' strat). You would have to disconnect the Silent Circuit though as they are trembuckers I believe

thats not a bad idea. i was thinking about using the solo pros but they had a really bluesy kind of tone. being a lefty the only guitar i can order is the sspecial and the axis. although the axis has two hums in it i perfer the silloughts much more

Imo, the stock Sil Spec p’ups are designed for versatility, covering a wide spectrum of tones a working musician might need to cover gig with just one guitar. Going to certain other p’ups could focus certain tones better, i.e. hotter/over-wound for metal or vintage/under-wound for purism, but that would reduce the wide range of tones the stock p’ups provide.

I almost dropped a pair of Lindy Fralin’s Vintage Hots into one of mine, but decided against it because that would “specialize” the guitar’s tone.

I don’t mean to say that the stock p’ups are merely average sounding, just that their focus is wider than more specialized p’ups. I think they sound killer, and can be tweaked with volume and tone controls to fit any venue or style. I was doing some Steven Stills styles this weekend for one tune, than getting country twang for another tune, SRV for another, and on and on. Fantastic versatility.

i think i might just keep the d sonic and the stock singles. i dont really think there is anything i can find that is more diverse than the stock pickups. are they just musicman stock pickups or can you order them off the dimarzio website??
thanks for your sugestions guys!

I believe they’re proprietary, or custom wound for EBMM. I once used a 3 single set in cheap strat type guitar, taken from a MM Sil Spec, and they sounded great in that guitar too.

Thinking that would require extra routing and parts for the battery?

Oh, you mean in a strat!
