New pics of my new Axis!

Ok, I've decided to put this in a new thread because the original one has a DOB-request in the title, and I don't want Jon to have to look in the thread every time to see whether or not he has answered yet

Anyway, today I finally got the chance to take some new pictures of the Axis I bought about a month ago from forum member bobbtoz. They didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but I blame the bad daylight conditions for that

This one approximates the color reasonably well; it's a bit lighter, especially in direct sunlight when it clearly becomes orange:

I just can't get over how well this thing plays. It's amazing, I just can't put it down. The neck profile and finish are just perfect. And it sounds pretty good too

Yup, that used to be my guitar. It is the best axis I've ever played! It weighs a bit more than all other axis guitars I've owned and or tried. Its hard as hell to capture the beauty of this guitar in a photo. I believe the reason is the quilt top is so 3 dimensional. When sunlight hits this guitar it looks total different. It almost appears like the top is shimmering.

question....if it's not too much trouble, do you think it's possible to get a pic of the action around the 12th fret to where the neck meets the body maybe? and the pickup height relative to the strings? kinda like a profile view...you say it plays perfectly...I've been having some issues with my action..just curious...thanks!

You're right Bob, it's pretty much impossible to capture the top on photos. I haven't seen many tops that change so dramatically depending on the light falling on it; one second it'll almost look 'plain' with a few vertical ripples, and the next it looks like rippled silk or something. Very nice

Shreder75: I don't have the camera anymore, but I'll try and take a pic of the action with my cell phone tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'll try to measure it some way or another. Bear in mind, though, that I tend to like a medium-low action (which is the category I think this Axis currently falls in), not the ultimate lowest or anything. How high is the action on yours?

that's cool...no need to go into any trouble for me or anything!

I like mine pretty low...but not so low that my fingers slip off the strings when trying to bend...I've never actually 'measured' the action (which is probably something I should do)..the action on my ESP is pretty low..now, that has jumbo frets, but when I compare I'm looking at the distance from the neck to the strings, not the frets to the strings

anywho, on my axis it's definetly more than 3/32 of an inch from 12 on up...I REALLY need to have it set up, but other than bringing it to guitar center or sam ash, I've been having trouble finding anyone private/local who won't have the friggin' thing for two weeks..and who won't charge me an arm and a leg to do it...

by the by, mine's a natural finish and I love it, but I REALLY dig the color or yours too!

Great song. I can't tell you how many strings I broke as a teenager trying to play the awesome solo in that tune. Lotsa big bends. My poor old Harmony guitar just couldn't take the stress!
