new pups for my Silo

Friends,

I love my Silo, but over the past 3 years that I've owned it I still can't start liking it's pups. Has any one of you switch to something true single coil a la Custom '69? I need the Strat sound.

BTW, please don't say "if you wanna get a Strat' sound buy a Strat". I believe EBMM perfected the concept of Strat' and I just want that crisp, clear sound of wood of my Silo' be transferred via pups properly. I'm finding single coils of Silo being somewhere in between Tele and Strat.

I'm considering between Lollar, Custom '69, Suhr V60. If anybody can suggest something different - I will be thanksfull for a good suggestion.

I like D.Allens JM 60's60's RocknBlues. They were everything I wanted in a single coil.

Also what kinda strat tone are you looking for?

The thing I love/hate about premium vintage style pups is that they give you that pristine and bassy response you know and love from old single coil tunes but they are so low output and can be overdriven well but can't handle medium high gain well at all.

My silo spec had got the it factor. Te alder and maple have aged beautifully and has a clear and articulate spank. I've opted to go vintage pups, lollar blondes, to take advantage of this quality but I liked the stock dimarzios because they can do so much more.

Looks like I need to buy another ball to cover more modern single coil ground. It's either another Silo or Luke.

In my 1995 Silo Spec I also changed the pup´s because I wanted more stratty sounds but yet beefy. I choosed a set from Staufer Guitars, the AVR-set. Classic stratty tones with a rocking sc at the bridge which gots more mids and less highs for good overdriven sounds. The middle sc is special wound and non-reversed to get the classic in-between-sounds with the bridge sc (the "Knopfler" thing).

My band has a YT-Channel, nothing special, and I´m for sure not the best guitar player around but there a lot of songs played with this SS.
