Something is missing :

And now there is something new :

Normally I never break a string (I change my strings before every gig) but two times, the D string broke (fortunately not during a gig !).
I inspected the saddle, but I found nothing ... thus I decided to try some GraphTech saddles.

Were those EB strings? I am asking that because the last batch I bought were braking like crazy, never happened to me before. I have 12packs with broken high Es and Ds.

A set of EB strings and a set of Savarez. I never had problems with EB strings (and this set was as fresh as the others). Thus I don't think it's a string problem.
I bought this EB set perhaps one or two years ago, but now I use Savarez strings (made in France. I guess you know why Europeans prefer now to buy non US products ...)

That's weird ... especially to have two different strings break consistently.

I would suspect burrs on the saddle, or somewhere the strings are coming in to contact with.

Brand new saddles, brand new trek plates. Strings are breaking or some were just unwinding on the ball, so… I think it was a bad batch. I got new batch and they behave ok. I even wanted to run serial numbers by EB CS, but then got lazy :)

@Rbg : where did you buy your EB strings ? Some Amazon dealers sell counterfeit items ...
I never had problems with EB strings in 30 years ...

I had Graphtech saddles on all my EBMM guitars for a while as I used to break lots of strings. I found they never lined up quite right and did something to the sound which was not what I wanted. I eventually put the stock ones back and using D’Addario strings I rarely break them.

Graph Tech saddles exist in two sizes. I bought the wider ones and I filed them in order to have the same size as the Music Man saddles.
Each saddle is normally 11,1 mm wide and the Music Man ones are 11 mm wide ... thus it's not hard to do.

I did mine years ago and was not skilled enough to do that at the time. I am glad you have it setup correctly 😀
