Awesome guitar, congratulations! If you can't do it with an HSS Silo Special, it's not worth doing!

I'm with you though, I never use the middle position on my HSS SS, and that is my ONLY fault with these fabulous guitars (on the SSS guitars, Position 3 is awesome).

IMHO, YMMV, my $0.02, etc :)

I should have to say that I use a SSS Silo Special when I was talking about my love to the middle position. For me a very cool sound, clean it´s cutting through everything, and with a little bit crunchy and some slapback delay I love it for the RnR things. Also I have to say that I´ve changed the stock pus on my SS. But as said before: I had the neck-bridge-combination on every strat I owned while I didn´t often use the middle-pu alone.

Yes, I agree but you have SSS Silo Special, mine is HSS so I have different wiring on my guitar. Neck pickup and one part of humbucker are wired parallel on middle position, because of that I have different sound and you have the sound what I wish to have.

Wow, nice guitar!

Why not wait a few weeks and see if you learn to like the middle pickup the way it is? You can always change it later. I had an adjustment period with the pickups on my JP6, but I wouldn't change them now.

I plan to change singles with cruiser or area 58/61 but I have no idea about the sound I will get. I might put area 61 for both neck and middle or cruisers for both position. I am not sure about the balance of cruiser and area 61 combination but seems ok regarding to data on dimarzio’s web site. The only think I wonder about cruiser is that if it is still bright like a vintage single coil. If yes I will probably go for cruiser for neck position.

Here's 2 clips recorded with my Silo spec with the cruisers. Note that my pots are now 500k for both, which I felt was much more suited for the Cruisers and the FRED i use.

The cruisers aren't as bright sounding as real singles, but they do get the job done very well when you want something more suited for single coil tones with a hotter humbucker.

Alternatively, you might consider the Area 67s?

Yes, I understand, and that´s why I posted again to explain my SS. But try out changing the pus and catch your own sound. Good luck. For me it was very successfull to change pus.

The middle position for the SSH Silo Spec is quite something if you know what to do with it. I tend to use it the most with the tone knob rolled to 0. if you check my "Grazing Cows" track, that first intro solo is done precisely with that tone. Under some gain, that tone becomes a nite harmonically rich focused tone that cuts through very well, giving a nice vintage Santana-esque vibe...
