This is a good one! I always wanted a silver Sabre, but this is even better! Here's the funny part: I get a call on Saturday afternoon as I'm loading my car for a gig - it's the store where I bought the bass - he thinks it came in Friday, but didn't see it until Saturday - meanwhile, there's no way I can get across town to pick it up AND get to my gig on time - they're closed on Sunday - I had a meeting this morning and couldn't get over there until 1:00 - a true test of patience! Had I known it was going to be delivered on Friday, I would have been waiting at the store for the UPS or FedEX guy - or somewhere nearby!

Damn! That looks killer with a white guard!

I thought so too! I almost went with the basic black guard, but I wanted reduced contrast against the silver to show off the color. I was thinking about a clear aftermarket guard, but I think the white is working. It IS very sparkly....definitely very sparkly...'course it's 5 minutes 'til Judge Wapner, yeahh.

I think your bass is the one I grabbed off the rack for a photo that will appear in a magazine review.

I've been spending some time with the new Ball today and I'm really diggin' the HH config. There are a lot of tones in this thing. Position 3 has the best slap tone I've heard in a long time. Like I said, I was a Sabre fan way back when and this thing is way better + there was never a Sabre 5 - and I've been a 5-stringer since around 1985. The HS and H are cool too, of course, but the HH is my new favorite - for now.

+1

That color looks amazing, really. Congrats on a beautiful bass.
I wonder how it would look with a white pearloid guard :D

I'm cracking up - I was just thinking about that tonight, as I was looking at the pickguard colors. I was on the Sterling 5 page to get to the warranty registration, and I was thinking how that white pearl would look cool on silver. Does GAS ever end? Now, I may have to get the other guard, just for s's and giggles.
